Chapter 1 The Drugged CEO

  • In a dark alley in Wildefield, a luxurious Mercedes-Benz S-Class shook rhythmically.
  • “I'm so exhausted!”
  • Nathaniel Ludlam felt weak all over, having no desire to move a muscle anymore.
  • “You may get out of the car now.”
  • A cold and slightly trembling voice split the air.
  • Mirabelle Shersby had never imagined that she would lose her virginity in such an uncanny way.“Okay.”
  • Nathaniel obediently moved to open the car door.
  • “Put on your clothes!” Mirabelle snapped.
  • Her face was flushed red, both from embarrassment and fury.
  • “Oh, sure.”
  • Nathaniel turned back, only to be greeted by the sight of tattered clothing amidst fair skin.
  • “Don't look! Also, make it quick!”
  • Blushing to the tip of her ears, Mirabelle wished the ground would swallow her whole.
  • She was the CEO of Shersby Group, but she was drugged at the banquet that night. As she was heading home in a fuzzy state, she drove into a blind alley instead.
  • The drug was taking effect, so she had no other choice but to drag Nathaniel, who was scavenging in the alley, into her Mercedes-Benz.
  • “Sure, sure!”
  • Nathaniel wore a silly grin on his face, making it all too clear that he was a simpleton.
  • What did I ever do to deserve this?
  • Right then, Mirabelle was on the verge of tears.
  • In the end, Nathaniel wrapped his somewhat intact shirt around his waist.
  • Then, he alighted from the Mercedes-Benz.
  • His movements were exceedingly casual and blithe.
  • Screech!
  • Just then, a Land Rover barreled in, kicking up clouds of dust in its wake.
  • “That's Ms. Shersby's Mercedes-Benz, Mr. Lineker! Uh...”
  • The man with a crew cut, who was driving, abruptly sounded choked mid-utterance.
  • He gaped at Nathaniel, who was squinting at the headlights from the oncoming Land Rover.
  • As Derek Lineker's right-hand man, he certainly knew that Mirabelle had been drugged.
  • Meanwhile, Nathaniel was bare-chested with only a shirt wrapped around his waist.
  • Therefore, everything that transpired earlier was pretty much evident.
  • “D*mn it!”
  • In the car, Derek, who appeared dapper in a suit and leather shoes, wore an expression as black as thunder.
  • I went to great lengths to organize the banquet tonight and spiked her drink with the most potent drug, but never had I thought that all my efforts would be for naught!
  • “Brodie, go and kill him!”
  • He stared at Nathaniel with his rage blazing in his eyes.
  • Mirabelle was cold and aloof, but she was a devastating beauty. Most importantly, she was still a virgin.
  • That was his motivation in pursuing her relentlessly for three years.
  • Alas, someone else had drawn first blood then.
  • F*ck!
  • Clenching his hands into fists, Derek let out a beastlike roar of wrath.
  • “Calm down, Mr. Lineker. Even if Ms. Shersby has been—”
  • The man with a crew cut, Brodie Linberg, tried consoling Derek.
  • “I said... to kill him!” Derek bellowed, enunciating every single word, his eyes blazing scarlet.
  • “U-Understood, Mr. Lineker!”
  • Brodie hastily got out of the car. Whipping out a dagger from the back of his waist, he stalked toward Nathaniel.
  • He laid his hands on Derek Lineker's woman, after all, so his life is definitely forfeit. Considering the power of the Lineker family, finishing off an ordinary person is no different from squashing an ant!
  • However, an imperceptible flash of white light flitted across Nathaniel's chest at that precise moment.
  • In the blink of an eye, the initially circular imprint of nine five-clawed golden dragons with their heads and tails intertwined fused into his body.
  • “Where am I?”
  • Nathaniel's squinted eyes gradually opened.
  • I actually lost my memories for three years?
  • It turned out that he was the young master of Poison Sect in Mapleton.
  • On a particular night three years ago, a group of masked men of unknown origins stormed Poison Sect, wiping out the dozens of sect members without sparing a single soul.
  • During that critical juncture, his severely injured parents jumped off the cliff with him.
  • For some inexplicable reason, he ended up in Wildefield and started his three-year life of scavenging.
  • Mom... Dad... The two of you are surely still alive, right?
  • Nathaniel's lips trembled, and tears poured down his face uncontrollably.
  • “What the f*ck? He's so scared that he's crying?”
  • By then, Brodie had already reached Nathaniel.
  • Surprised flooded him when he glimpsed the latter's tear-stained face.
  • Could it be that my domineering air is so intense that he's terrified to the point of tears before I'd even lifted a finger against him?
  • “What are you doing, Brodie Linberg? Stop right there!” a disheveled Mirabelle barked with a frown, getting out of the car while supporting her waist with a hand.
  • Verily, she wanted to maintain her image as an aloof CEO, but the circumstances didn't permit it.
  • Most of her clothes had been ripped to shreds when she and Nathaniel were in the throes of passion.
  • “Heh! This has nothing to do with you, Ms. Shersby!”
  • Brodie grinned, the look in his eyes as he regarded Mirabelle stained with a hint of lust.
  • “You're not allowed to lay a finger on him! Go back and tell Derek that I'm not going to let this matter slide!”
  • Mirabelle took a step forward and shielded Nathaniel behind her.
  • He's just a dummy who scavenges around. How could he possibly be Brodie's match?
  • “I'm sorry, Ms. Shersby, but Mr. Lineker is livid. As such, the consequences are exceedingly grave!”
  • Brodie instinctively licked his lips upon seeing flashes of Mirabelle's assets due to her ripped clothes.
  • “I'm also livid, and the consequences are likewise grave!”
  • With an icy expression on her face, Mirabelle glared at the man.
  • “Stop yakking with her, Brodie! Kill that boy!” Derek roared from within the Land Rover, his face flushed bright red with fury.
  • “Heh! Please step aside, Ms. Shersby!”
  • Brodie shoved Mirabelle, causing her to stumble and hit the car door.
  • Subsequently, he sneered. Holding the dagger in hand, he moved to stab Nathaniel.
  • “Brodie Linberg!”
  • Mirabelle couldn't bring herself to stand idly by as the innocent Nathaniel lost his life because of the conflict between her and Derek.
  • She once again spread out her arms and inserted herself between the two men.
  • “Well, pardon me, Ms. Shersby!”
  • Brodie lifted his hand, planning to knock her unconscious with a blow to get her out of his way.
  • In the next second, however, he felt as though an iron manacle had clamped onto his wrist.
  • Taking a step forward, Nathaniel shot a sidelong glance at the stunning woman beside him. In a mild voice, he remarked, “Since I bedded you, I should be protecting you!”
  • “Huh? You, protecting me?”
  • Mirabelle's eyes widened. For the first time, she studied the man beside her seriously.
  • Hmm, he has defined features, tapered brows, and tall stature. But still, he's just a scavenger. How could he possibly protect me?
  • “Haha...” Brodie promptly burst into raucous laughter.
  • Pointing at Nathaniel, he mockingly declared, “Kid, since Mr. Lineker wants you dead, you won't be able to see the sunrise tomorrow! You want to protect Ms. Shersby? Who's going to protect you, then?”
  • “Sorry, but you aren't Grim Reaper, so you don't have the ability to take my life. In the count of three, you'd best disappear from my line of sight. Otherwise, you'll meet your maker ahead of me!”
  • Nathaniel's expression was calm and unruffled, his voice firm.
