Chapter 11 How Dare You Offend Me

  • Meanwhile, downstairs, Derek was seated casually while sipping on freshly-brewed coffee offered to him by the receptionist.
  • There was a hint of displeasure in his eyes.
  • He had thought that Blacksteel would definitely succeed in his task and did not expect Brodie to call and inform him that instead of killing Nathaniel, Blacksteel had taken him to Atlas Hotel.
  • When Derek heard that, he headed toward the hotel at once as he wanted to find out what exactly was Blacksteel up to.
  • “Hey, Mr. Derek!”
  • Acting under Ronan's instructions, Blacksteel walked out of the elevator while approaching Derek smilingly.
  • “Mr. Blacksteel...”
  • Derek put his cup down and stood up at once while greeting Blacksteel with a fawning smile.
  • Even though he was the son of a prominent family, he would still have to humble himself in front of Cloud Brotherhood, a ruthless underground force.
  • “Let's talk behind!” Blacksteel said while gesturing for Derek to proceed to the back of the hotel lobby. While walking, he sneaked a glance at the lobby's surveillance cameras.
  • The receptionist, who was wearing black stockings, understood what he meant at once and turned off the power to the surveillance system discreetly.
  • A few minutes later, a mortifying cry was heard coming from the back of the lobby.
  • Never in his wildest dreams had Derek ever thought that Blacksteel would take him to a room at the back of the lobby and beat him up.
  • As Blacksteel often participated in underground boxing matches, every punch from him was a heavy blow.
  • Bam! Bam! Bam!
  • “Ahhh... Ahhh...”
  • Blacksteel cursed as he swung his punches, “F*ck, you b*stard! You've almost got me killed. My boss had almost wrung my head off!”
  • “Mr. Blacksteel... What are you talking about? I don't understand!”
  • Derek was groaning in pain on the ground. He could barely open his eyes, which were bruised and swollen from the beating.
  • “F*ck... Nathaniel and my boss are childhood friends who grew up together. You're intentionally sending me to my grave by asking me to kill that guy, right? My boss has also declared that Nathaniel is under his protection and that whoever dares lay a hand on him would be making Cloud Brotherhood their enemy! Don't let me see you again!”
  • Blacksteel kicked Derek a few more times before dragging him out of the hotel's back door and throwing him onto the streets.
  • “D*mn it...”
  • Derek clenched his fists tight, feeling utterly humiliated.
  • He was the son of a prestigious family, and no one had ever dared to lay a finger on him.
  • Cloud Brotherhood!
  • Nathaniel!
  • You dare to offend me? You are all doomed!
  • Derek roared inwardly out of fury. He had decided that he would get his revenge at all costs!
  • Meanwhile, in the private room upstairs, Nathaniel passed a piece of A4 size paper, which was filled with martial arts chants, to Ronan. “Use this to practice the White Ape Technique. It's much more powerful than your kickboxing,” he said placidly.
  • “Oh... Thank you, Mr. Ludlam!”
  • Ronan took over the piece of paper excitedly.
  • In actuality, White Ape Technique was the most basic martial arts technique which Nathaniel had learned. However, he had to give Ronan some perks in order to get the man to serve him loyally, and there was no better way than teaching him a fighting skill as force and power were of utmost importance to those from the underworld.
  • As long as Ronan remained loyal to him, Nathaniel would not mind teaching him more advanced martial arts in the future.
  • “Oh right, is Cloud Brotherhood doing well recently? I had to incur some additional expenditures lately and I'm a little strapped.”
  • Nathaniel was embarrassed to admit that he was, in fact, penniless.
  • In order to treat Howard's illness, Megan and Isla had accumulated mountains of debt. As such, Nathaniel had intended to get some money from Ronan to help Megan out.
  • “Mr. Ludlam, Cloud Brotherhood has made a profit of around forty million in the past year. I'll get the finance department to prepare twenty million for you first,” Ronan offered generously.
  • “That's too much. I would appreciate it if you could just give me a million,” Nathaniel said, waving his hand.
  • His immediate priority was to help the Tasward family settle their debts. After that, he could easily think of ways to make money on his own.
  • “If that's the case, I'll get the money ready at once!”
  • As Nathaniel's stance seemed rather firm, Ronan did not speak any further.
  • A short while later, Ronan returned to the private room holding a bank card. “Mr. Ludlam, the password is six zeros.”
  • “Thanks! I have some matters to tend to now. Let me know when you have news on Mr. Draco!” Nathaniel patted Ronan's shoulder and left the room.
  • He was very curious to find out more about Draco and why he was such an influential figure in Wildefield.
  • Nathaniel bought a new phone on the way back and withdrew a few thousand from the ATM.
  • When he arrived at the hospital, Isla and Megan were sitting around Howard, and the three of them were chatting and laughing away. It was a harmonious sight to behold.
  • “Dumbo...”
  • Hearing footsteps, Isla turned around. “You're being so mysterious these days. What have you been up to? Don't you have to go scavenging to make money?” she said with a look of displeasure.
  • “Mrs. Tasward, I had some matters to settle at home, so I made a trip back!” Nathaniel replied with a wry smile on his face.
  • “I see. How's your family doing?” Howard asked in concern.
  • For the past three years, Nathaniel had been staying at Wildefield. Besides, judging by how he had fallen from a cliff and was covered in blood back then, Howard was sure that something must have happened to his family.
  • “My family... they're gone...” Nathaniel answered as his expression darkened.
  • “Oh... It's okay. From now on, Meg, my wife and I will be your family!” Howard let out a sigh and tried to comfort Nathaniel.
  • “Mr. Tasward...”
  • Tears welled up in Nathaniel's eyes when he heard that, and he was even more determined to transform the Tasward family into a wealthy and prestigious family.
  • Meanwhile, at the Lineker residence, Derek, who had a swollen face, was ranting to an elderly. “Dad, those guys from Cloud Brotherhood are too much! Even though they have accepted my money, not only did they not complete their task, they've even beaten me up!”
  • The elderly, who was dressed in a suit and had a stern expression on his face, was Thomas, the patriarch of the Lineker family.
  • The man could not help but feel his heart aching when he saw the bruises on his son's face. Wearing a grim expression on his face, Thomas contemplated for a brief moment before saying coldly, “It seems like Ronan really thinks that he rules Wildefield's underground! There's someone you need to look for to deal with Ronan.”
  • “Dad, is there anyone who's more formidable than Ronan in Wildefield?” Derek's eyes widened in disbelief.
  • “Yup. That man is Mr. Draco. There are only a handful of people in Wildefield who have seen him in person. I'll pass you his number. When you look for him, bring the 'Streams and Mountains' painting in my study along with you. I did him a favor last time, so I don't think he would reject you!” Thomas nodded and replied.
  • “All right! If Mr. Draco is willing to help us, we'll definitely be able to destroy Cloud Brotherhood, Nathaniel, and the Shersby family!” Derek said through gritted teeth as a ruthless glint flashed past his eyes.
