Chapter 9 We Got It

  • “Please accept my gratitude, my savior!”
  • Fraser burst into tears and almost knelt before Nathaniel.
  • “Dad, what are you doing?”
  • Mirabelle quickly supported her father and glanced at Nathaniel, wondering if the man had drugged her father.
  • Did this jerk brainwash my dad? Otherwise, why did Dad call him a savior and even wanted to kneel before him? It was like Dad is possessed.
  • “Mr. Shersby, you could hear me back then?”
  • Nathaniel guessed what had happened.
  • Back then, Fraser's heart stopped beating, and he entered a state of suspended animation.
  • Despite that, his hearing and thinking ability was still working fine.
  • “Yes, my savior. I was in a daze at the time, and it was as if I could see heaven's gate. But then, I heard your voice saying that you would help me for Belle's sake. Then, you placed your palm on my chest and revived me!”
  • Fraser nodded profusely in response.
  • “Oh, I'm glad to be of help. If there's nothing else, I need to go to the restroom now.”
  • Nathaniel waved his hand and thought nothing about it.
  • Although he had bedded Mirabelle, it was obvious that the latter looked down on him.
  • Besides, he still needed to avenge his family, so he didn't have any time for a relationship.
  • “Ah, sorry about that. Go ahead then. I'll wait at the door. You saved me, so I will definitely repay you!” Fraser said sincerely.
  • “There's no need for that. Ms. Shersby had already given me twenty thousand!”
  • Nathaniel swiftly left the ward and entered the restroom.
  • After Nathaniel left, Mirabelle asked Fraser, “I still don't get it, Dad. What do you mean he saved you? He's just a scavenger. He doesn't know anything about medicine!”
  • “What? A scavenger? Derek told me that you and a scavenger had... Is that him?”
  • Fraser came back to his senses and wore a shocked expression.
  • If that's really the case, then it's fate!
  • “Yes... I got drugged that time, so I had no choice!” Mirabelle replied in a very low voice.
  • A blush appeared on her face and tinted her ears red.
  • “Hahaha, that's great. Belle, I've decided. That boy will be my son-in-law!”
  • Fraser chuckled out loud.
  • “Dad, you haven't even asked for my opinion yet! Besides, you must have been mistaken. How can he be your savior?”
  • Mirabelle stomped her foot, feeling ashamed and annoyed.
  • “Belle, do you think I've gone senile? I clearly heard his voice! Besides, I could feel what he did to me. Do you really think those good-for-nothing doctors saved my life? If they were capable of doing so, why would they advise you to transfer me to another hospital?” Fraser asked solemnly, wearing a straight face.
  • “Um...”
  • Gritting her teeth, Mirabelle recalled the night she met Nathaniel and took note of every single detail in her memories.
  • Initially, Brodie was holding a knife, preparing to attack him.
  • However, Nathaniel was calm and fearless. In the end, Brodie even mysteriously stabbed himself.
  • Secondly, Nathaniel was able to easily stop her from kicking him when they were on the rooftop.
  • If the man was really a scavenger, he couldn't possibly have such a strong mentality and good combat skills.
  • Most importantly, when Fraser's heart stopped, he had also told her that her father wasn't dead yet.
  • She thought that he was talking nonsense and didn't think much about it.
  • Nonetheless, after mulling it over, she concluded that if he was really a scavenger, he couldn't have been able to tell that a person whose heart had stopped beating was actually still alive.
  • Mirabelle could not wrap her head around it.
  • She shook her head and felt that Nathaniel was indeed a mysterious man.
  • Fraser patted the back of his daughter's hand and said earnestly, “That's enough, Belle. It's decided. Although the young man wears plain clothes, the look in his eyes is clear, and his attitude is humble. I could tell he's a determined and kind person. There are not many young people like him nowadays!”
  • “Marriage is not a game, Dad. Even if you want him to be your son-in-law, I... I have to test him first to see if he's qualified!”
  • Mirabelle blushed as she gritted her teeth.
  • Fraser laughed. “Sure! The day after tomorrow is my sixtieth birthday. Let's invite him to the house and get to know him better.”
  • Meanwhile, at the hospital's parking lot, Derek was holding a cigarette in one hand and his phone in the other. He had an icy cold expression as he said, “Brodie, that brat has shown up. Let Blacksteel take action during nightfall. I want him dead.”
  • “Relax, Mr. Lineker. We got it. This friend of mine is the owner of the underground boxing stadium in Wildefield. One punch of his can take down a cow, so one finger should be enough to deal with this idiot!” Brodie guaranteed him.
  • “Great. That's what I want!”
  • Derek nodded with satisfaction.
  • He had also heard about a capable man in the underground boxing stadium of Wildefield. Rumor had it that each time it was his turn, he would take less than ten seconds to defeat his opponent.
  • Derek didn't expect someone as impressive as him to be Brodie's friend.
  • Hehe... You're gonna get it, you dumb scavenger.
  • Derek could already imagine how Nathaniel was going to be beaten into a pulp by Blacksteel.
  • Soon, evening came.
  • Nathaniel had been staying in Howard's ward, waiting for him to wake up.
  • As time passed slowly, Howard's fingertips finally moved when it was around seven o'clock.
  • Subsequently, he slowly opened his eyes.
  • “Where am I?”
  • After being in a coma for three years, all he remembered was the night when he sent Nathaniel, who was covered in blood, to the hospital.
  • Nathaniel grabbed Howard's hand and said with a slightly hoarse voice, “Mr. Tasward, you got injured when you tried to save my life. But you're okay now. You'll pretty much be fine now that you're awake.”
  • If it hadn't been for Howard's help, Nathaniel would have been dead three years ago.
  • He also wouldn't even have the chance to find his parents' murderers and avenge them.
  • “Oh, it looks like you're fine too. I'm relieved.”
  • Howard nodded and let out a sigh of relief.
  • After a moment of pondering, Nathaniel said, “Mr. Tasward, I'll go and bring Mrs. Tasward and Meg here. They'll be happy to see that you're awake.”
  • “Hehe, I do miss them!”
  • Howard smiled amicably.
  • “All right then. I'll be right back!”
  • Nathaniel walked out of the hospital and hailed a taxi.
  • Right then, a black Honda was slowly following him.
  • Nathaniel narrowed his eyes as he sensed a strong murderous intent directed at him.
