• The sound of a cell phone ringing pierced the quiet. Miracle, fast asleep, groaned as the ringing persisted. She swore under her breath, annoyed that her sleep had been disturbed. Still wanting rest, she grabbed her phone and swiped the green button without even looking at the screen.
• “Hello?” she replied, her tone sharp and irritated.
• “Miracle! Tell your guards to let me into your house! How rude of them not to give me access! Hurry up—I can’t wait this long!” A loud, commanding female voice blared from the other end, startling Miracle.
