Chapter 5 Impulsive Vow To An Enigmatic Husband

  • Her CEO did not appear to be the kind to buy inexpensive items, and Cornelia was not going to buy anything too pricey. Cornelia chose to emphasize her boss's interests and took them to a premium store. Cornelia watched Marcus move ahead of her. He continued strolling, expressing no interest in entering a business. They might not buy anything if they roamed aimlessly. Cornelia hurried to get caught up with him. "President Hartley, are you interested in checking out some stores?" Marcus agreed and proceeded to the nearest safeguard, only to be detained by the personnel at the door."Sir, kindly line up over there." Normally, huge luxury firms would strongly appeal to people like Marcus.
  • He probably wouldn't bother searching and would be unaware of what they needed to line up to get a pocketbook. Cornelia swiftly pulled out the company's VVIP card. When the staff saw it, their mood changed immediately, and they escorted them into the room designated for VIPs. The workers handling VVIPs were as kind as if they were greeting royalty, even handing out bags that other consumers had been waiting several months to get. "Sir, madam, please remain free to choose." Cornelia was humiliated when she heard this address. "He's my boss." Marcus also frowned. Although he hadn't seen his wife since arriving in his own country, he didn't want anyone to misunderstand. He seldom clarified, "She is assisting me in selecting a gift for my wife."
  • "Sorry!" The personnel worked with a diverse range of people on a regular basis and should not have committed such a simple error. But while they sat together, it seemed as though they belonged together, and their vibes were so similar that people automatically believed they were a pair. Marcus decided that he would purchase them all because he had no idea what type of purse females like. There is bound to be one that their spouse would like. "Wrap up these bags." Four bags totaling over $100,000. Cornelia then led him to a high-end jewelry store. The personnel promptly led them to the bar. "Sir, this bracelet is our unique release for this year. "Your wife will look stunning in it." Marcus responded, "Alright, wrap it up."
  • The workers admired decisive guests like him. She grinned and asked Cornelia, "Madam, would you like to try it on?" "He's my boss." Cornelia gently explained while fuming within. What was amiss with their eyes? Was there anything regarding her and Marcus' actions that went beyond the typical boss-employee relationship? She was clearly his little sidekick, constantly careful and frightened of doing a poor job and losing her high-paying employment. How could she seem like a CEO's wife? Cornelia gazed at Marcus. This time around, he did not explain, and the way he looked remained unchanged. But she could sense his disapproval. They ultimately chose two necklaces and paid many thousand dollars extra.
  • Cornelia's heart sank as she assisted in swiping the credit card. She works frantically throughout the day and night to earn money. She has not yet been able to accumulate enough money for a deposit on a property. Her savings over the last few years are still a fraction of what some people spend on luxury bags or jewelry. The disparity between the affluent and the poor was absolutely distressing. Cornelia naturally took responsibility for lugging the goods when they were packed because Ben had not yet located a parking space. Marcus led the way out of the mall, nonchalantly asking, "Do you possess any more things to buy?". Catherine pointed to the left and said, "What I want for Christmas is not in this mall. We need to stroll a little."
  • "Lead the way." Despite this, Marcus walked forward. While the bags and accessories they purchased were not substantial, the shipping boxes were enormous. Cornelia had two big containers in one hand, resembling a Christmas tree filled with presents. It was not just exhausting, but also funny. She fell behind Marcus because her strides were shorter than his. When people mistaken them for two individuals, Cornelia believed Marcus's attitude toward her had cooled significantly. Perhaps he was frightened about being wrong again or that she might form false ideas about him. Regardless, Cornelia valued his insight as a married man. After approximately 10 minutes, they arrived at Cornelia's destination: a small gift shop. Abigail had always wanted to acquire an adorable toy from this store, but she hadn't ever had the opportunity to visit the capital.
  • Cornelia rushed up to greet Marcus, saying, "President Hartley, I needed to buy something here." Marcus nodded and said, "I'll wait for you outside." Comelia felt she wasn't supposed to leave Marcus waiting too long. So she first purchased Abigail's gift and then randomly selected a few accessories she liked. Cornelia came to a halt as she noticed all of the lovely, tiny items and started trying to carefully select them. Marcus was not patient while waiting for others. He waited by the roadside, having a cigarette, and watched the girl pick out items in the store between the smell of smoke and the shattering window. He saw that Cornelia appeared happier at this tiny shop, unlike in the high-end boutiques. Her eyes glittered as if she were picking up incredibly valuable items.
  • Do all the females enjoy these trinkets? Would his wife also enjoy them? Marcus decided to walk inside the retail establishment and pick up a fluffy toy, picturing his wife stroking it. He couldn't recall his wife's appearance except that she had an extremely delicate face. He instinctively looked at Cornelia, who was there, and the two women's faces merged in his imagination. But Marcus promptly disregarded this ridiculous concept. He paid little attention to women's attractiveness, and many individuals were unremarkable. He wondered whether he had unconsciously replaced his wife's visage with Cornelia's because she was always around him. Cornelia spotted Marcus and asked, "President Hartley, do you're after purchasing a toy for your wife?" Marcus remarked, "I don't know if she'll like it." Cornelia chuckled. "President Hartley, girls are typically more concerned with the meaning behind the gift than the item itself. Because you're putting in so much effort, she'll like everything you get."
  • "Really?" His wife did not even save his cell device number. Would she like what he bought? Marcus considered it carefully. He abandoned his partner after they married and did not care for her for a year. And now he believed he could just call her and expect her to return home? That should not be the way things function. He should purchase her further presents and meet her in person. "I'll do the choosing," he said. He took the assignment seriously, although he had no idea what young females liked. So he urged Cornelia, "Just buy whatever that girl would love." Cornelia knew Marcus was wealthy, and buying a few things was no big issue. Heck, he could purchase a whole store with a single remark. But as his personal assistant, she couldn't simply let him go uncontrolled like that. Cornelia gently pushed Marcus to buy a bit less, but he went all out. So she had no alternative but to purchase an additional suitcase to contain all of the gifts the big boss had gotten for his woman. After all, the boss's presents to his wife couldn't have been damaged.
