Chapter 3 Impulsive Vow To An Enigmatic Husband

  • Cornelia recently discovered that her employer was already married. Every time he mentioned his wife, he smiled gently. Comelia reasoned that the pair must be genuinely in love. Cornella started to admire her new employer, who was rich, fit, attractive, and madly in love with his wife. - From the perspective of an ordinary girl, she thought carefully before saying, "President Hartley, I think most girls like jewelry, but what's really important is the thought behind the gift. Like buying her a bunch of flowers, taking her out to dinner, or seeing a movie together." Marcus has no experience dating. He only understood to treat the girl decently after they married. So he said to Cornelia, "Alright, you go prepare."
  • Cornelia immediately called the Hartley Group's regular flower store and personally selected red roses to express her love. Cornelia found it easy to find acceptable date restaurants and movie theaters, despite her lack of dating experience. She was able to ascend step by step to serve beside the president, despite enormous effort. She recalled the specialties of all Riverton's high-end restaurants, which were appropriate for dating and which were appropriate for treating clients to dinner, and even the preferences of all previous clients. The presidents Cornelia's day's job was complete once she delivered the roses and the dated address to the president's office. Today's job appeared simple and went easily, but only Cornelia knew how nervous she had been throughout the day. When she returned home, she was finally able to relax and doze off on the couch.
  • make Marcus arrived outside Cornelia's neighborhood and was going to make a phone call when he noticed his wife wasn't on his contact list. He felt terribly bad for abandoning his wife after they married, not caring for her for a year, and failing to save her phone number. Marcus privately resolved to treat her better in the future. He identified a phone number in his grandmother's chat history and called it. A quiet and slightly weary voice came through, as if just waking up: "Hello, who is this?" Didn't his wife even save his phone number? Marcus grinned slightly. "This is Jeremy." Mr. Jeremy, hi. "What can I do for you?" Her tone was cordial yet alien, as if she didn't know him at all. Marcus was going to say anything when he heard a man say, "Honey, wake up and come eat." Marcus recognized something and hung up the phone, his eyes sinking behind his spectacles.
  • He glanced at the present box and vivid red flowers beside him and felt a stinging ache in his eyes. He averted his gaze, lit a cigarette, and took a few drags before telling the driver, "Start the car, head to Southern Summer Garden." Cornelia was half asleep, and with her hectic work schedule, she had long put the marriage registration to the back of her mind. She honestly had no memory of the name "Jeremy." Cornelia ignored the phone call because it seemed unlikely to be from a client. She hung up the phone, came into the kitchen, slipped between Abigail Young and Zack Ruck, and asked gently, "Why didn't you wake me up when you two got back?" Abigail softly patted her nose. "You seemed exhausted, like a worn-out dog.
  • "I did not want to wake you up." Zack, when serving food, stated, "Hurry up and wash your hands; it's dinnertime." The three of them grew up together, attended Riverton College, and intended to start a business together after graduation. However, Cornelia suffered an accident during their sophomore year of school and was almost unable to finish her studies. Following the event, they decided to stay in Riverton and pursue their professions together. Following graduation, the three of them established a comic studio, rented a three-bedroom flat, and worked and lived together, developing a strong friendship.
  • Cornelia stared at the table full of food and asked, "Is this feast because our studio made a lot of money?" Zack poured a glass of red wine for each of them, saying, "We heard you got promoted to president's assistant, so we prepared this celebration feast for you." Abigail snuggled next to Cornelia, full of gossip: "The president of the Hartley Group seldom appears in the media, but there are so many aristocratic ladies waiting up to marry him. Is he truly handsome?" Zack believed women were shallow, saying regretfully, "Just because he's affluent doesn't mean he's attractive. Perhaps he avoids showing his face in public because he is ugly."Cornelia chuckled and quipped, "He is handsome, but whether he's attractive enough to make people swoon, you'll have to ask his wife." Abigail said, "Wait, he's married?"
  • Cornelia nodded. "Yes, he is. And he appears to care deeply for his wife. But I always think he seems familiar, and I can't recall where I've seen him before." Abigail stated, "You always feel at ease when you encounter gorgeous men. You have the capacity to be a heartbreaker. Cornelia giggled, "It's not bad to be a heartbreaker; there's no need to accept responsibility." Zack rolled his eyes. "Miss, you're already married!" Abigail quickly responded, "Can't married people have crushes? Do you want Cornelia to spend the rest of her life with the man who disappeared after they married?" Cornelia shrugged, appearing tranquil. I don't need a man with you two by my side.?
  • Cornelia considered starting a good life with that man when they initially registered their marriage. However, when time passed and he vanished without a trace and his grandmother, whom she had seen several times before to register, did not contact her again, she lost any lingering ideas. However, her grandma frequently mentioned her husband and intended to pay the pair a visit in Riverton this Christmas. Abigail and Zack said, "Right, lousy men are nothing compared to us." They completed their breakfast while laughing, and after cleaning off the table, they worked on their comics together. Life was wonderful and fulfilling. The next day, Cornelia arrived at work early. The new boss was extremely busy, and working with him meant doubling your compensation but also required more time and effort. Cornelia had just stepped out of a cab when she noticed a gorgeous black Bentley slowing down in front of the corporate door.
  • She dashed over to answer the door for her employer: "President Hartley, good morning!" Marcus nodded, appearing to be under the weather. Cornelia didn't dare to ponder too much and followed him into the CEO's private elevator, reporting the day's itinerary to him. They had a golfing appointment with the CEO of Digital Sports Technology in the morning. Marcus' complexion had returned to normal, and he was friendly and graceful with the CEO of Digital Sports Technology. However, Ben and Cornelia, who were waiting nearby, were still feeling stressed. Ben had been with Marcus for many years and had seldom seen the CEO express his feelings. Today was the exception. "Cornelia, what do you think is going on with our CEO?" Cornelia shakes her head. "If you don't know, how would I know?" Ben thought about it for a long time. There have been no problems with their job recently; therefore, the CEO's concerns must be about his personal life. He instantly got an idea. "Could it be that last night President Hartley didn't get what he wanted from his wife?"
