Chapter 390 Impulsive Vow To An Enigmatic Husband

  • When Cornelia heard this, she felt like a ton of bricks had just hit her. “Man, I’ve really screwed up. Granny hinted at it so many times, and I just thought she was in a rush for us to have kids. I never considered that she was so desperate for us to have a baby because she was worried about leaving me alone and not being able to get by after she’s gone.” Marcus said, “Better late than never, right? I’ll give you a few days off. Spend some quality time with Granny” Cornelia asked, “So, should I be thanking President Hartley?” Marcus said, “Cut the crap, go to Granny.” “Alright.” Cornelia turned to leave, took a couple of steps, then turned back and said, “Don’t tell Granny about the poisoning, alright? She’s old, she can’t take the shock. I’m afraid it might scare her.” Marcus said, “Maybe she is tougher than you think.” Cornelia asked. “Did you tell her?” Marcus asked, “Do you think I would do that?” “Who knows?”
  • After Cornelia finished speaking, she turned to leave, but Marcus pulled her back. He looked at her, his face serious. “Cornelia, there’s something I need to tell you.” She looked at him, her eyes sparkled “What is it?” Marcus was silent for a few seconds, as if he had made a major decision, then slowly said, “I want to take care of you, not just because you’re my wife.” Cornelia seemed to understand what he meant, but wasn’t sure, so she wanted to confirm. “What do you mean?” Marcus didn’t say anything. “Go on, Granny is waiting for you.” “I’m not going anywhere until you finish your sentence.” Cornelia hated it when people didn’t finish their sentences; she insisted he made his point clear. Marcus said. “I think… I might be into you” She didn’t expect him to say anything, let alone confess his feelings. Cornelia regretted pushing him. “Well, got it.” Then, she ran off. He confessed, she just said “Well, got it, and then left him there. Did she want him to like her or not?
  • When she bolted into Granny’s ward, Cornelia’s heart was still pounding Granny Rebecca noticed her flushed face, and asked with concern, “Nelly, why are your eyes red and your face so flushed?” Cornelia panicked, “The wind was strong and I got some sand in my eyes. I wasn’t crying” Granny Rebecca chuckled, “You’re married now, but you’re still like a little girl, denying your tears.” Cornelia sat next to Granny Rebecca, “Who says being married means I have to change?” Granny Rebecca said, “True, as long as Nelly is happy, nothing else matters.” Cornelia said, “Granny, it’s still early. Let me sleep with you for a while.” Granny Rebecca said, “Okay” With Granny’s permission, Cornelia climbed onto the bed, lay next to Granny, and held her tightly. At that moment, as she smelled her grandmother’s scent, Cornelia’s anxious heart finally found tranquility. “Granny, I love you so, so much. I can’t live without you… She was terrified of not being able to hold Granny like this anymore, terrified of not hearing Granny’s voice again, terrified of the future where Granny would only exist in her memories “I love my Nelly too!” Granny stroked Cornelia’s head gently, humming a lullaby to lull her to sleep, just like when she was a child.
