- Oaklynn finally slinked out of the ladies’ room, and with a sigh of resignation, she ripped off her graduation gown and suggested we take a turn around the campus and circle back to the auditorium.
- We walked side by side in silence, under the bright glare of the sun, our bodyguards keeping a respectable distance to give us privacy. Not that we needed it. She remained silent, and when I offered to hold her gown, she handed it over wordlessly, throwing her cap on top. I folded it neatly and tucked it under my arm, and held the cap in my hand.
