Chapter 2 I Abhor His Presence

  • "Who are you?" he asks arrogantly, unable to stand someone approaching him without his consent.
  • He no longer hears her whisper. Sebastian's breathing quickens. He hates being a damn blind man.
  • "Speak!" he growls furiously, but they do not give him an answer.
  • He moves his staff closer. "You're in serious trouble!" he repeats, because if this woman is playing a damn joke on him, she will pay for it.
  • Sebastian crawls a little closer to her, slowly bringing his hand to her face, orienting himself by the sound of her breathing.
  • When he touches her, he feels a strange sensation in his body. Her skin is so pleasant that he wants to touch her more, but then he scolds his thoughts, drifting into absurd theories—if maybe someone sent her to harm him. But all those thoughts vanish when he hears the driver's seat door open.
  • "Happy birthday... Shit!" exclaims Leandro upon seeing this beautiful unconscious woman in the back seat.
  • "Wretched! How dare you look for a woman? You know that if I want to, I warn you, and very clearly I tell you I DO NOT WANT TO CELEBRATE THIS DAY!"
  • Leandro looks around and can see men with a strange attitude, looking for someone, so he gets into the car and locks the doors.
  • "What's going on? If this woman wasn't sent by you, then get her out. I abhor her presence."
  • "Something happened to the girl. You should lower your guard a bit."
  • "NO! I don't want her in my car," he says authoritatively.
  • But she grows angrier and angrier when Leandro contradicts her. She starts breathing deeply, but that rose scent is very intense, and it's not that it's disgusting. In fact, it's captivating.
  • "Leandro! I am your boss, you cannot disobey my orders."
  • "Yes, I can, because we are like brothers. Let me help her. It really doesn't look good at all."
  • "I'm not interested. I have enough of my damn life to meddle in other people's business."
  • "Please, let me take her home and look after her. I'm not going to involve you with her, even though, to be honest, she is really beautiful."
  • Sebastian falls silent. He no longer intends to argue with Leandro. He knows they have arrived home when he hears the large bars moving to give entry.
  • He becomes impatient. This scent is ingrained and he won't be able to erase it. Leandro opens the car door, and Sebastian prepares to quickly get out and enter the house.
  • "Wait!" says Leandro, and he stops but makes a gesture of discontent.
  • "Now, do you want me to help you with this woman?"
  • "I don't... I know you don't like it, but happy birthday, my brother. It's a simple detail, but it has great significance. Please, accept it." Leandro brings the keychain closer, in which there is a gold wine bottle pendant.
  • "I'll take it because you whine. So, I don't want to hear your complaints, and take care of this woman. I warn you, I don't want to smell her. I hope that's clear to you, Leandro," he says threateningly and continues on his way to his room.
  • He has lived for years in this hacienda, and everything is recorded in him. But the darkness he feels is sinking deeper and deeper. He has lost hope of seeing again. He feels he doesn't deserve what is happening to him.
  • He had to get used to certain things. Maria was essential. It was like seeing through her. She chose his clothes. She made his life a little easier. But she left him, of course, making him believe he is a burden, since she has many suitors. But even so, he will never forgive her for abandoning him.
  • He is ready to sleep, but he feels uneasy. He is having an inner battle. Thoughts of guilt torment him, and when he is able to fall asleep, the nightmares of that tragic accident haunt him again. Sometimes, he wants to end his life and end all that torments him.
  • His breathing is erratic, and his throat is dry. He has no choice but to go to the kitchen for a glass of water, and it bothers him as he doesn't exactly know where the glasses and water are.
  • Anastasia Parker is a dancer in a nightclub. She has talent, but she doesn't do it for pleasure. Her dear mother is in poor health, so the girl dances every night in this club to earn enough money.
  • She is so beautiful, her natural beauty attracts the attention of men. One of them became obsessed with her, injected her with a drug to tame her, but the girl managed to escape and, by fate, ended up getting into Sebastian Parrow's car. Even with his handicap, he is a Greek god and one of the sought-after young millionaires in Los Angeles.
  • When the drug wore off, she woke up bewildered by where she was. She feels like her heart will stop and more when she sees Sebastian walking slowly.
  • She covers her mouth. She had never seen a man so beautiful, but with such a cold look, her chest rises and falls in fear. She thought he was going to claim her for his presence, but he walked past her without stopping. Then the girl realizes that the man is blind. She stands up and takes a few silent steps behind him.
  • But something Sebastian did not overlook is the scent that made him stop at the entrance of the kitchen.
  • The young girl doesn't even want to breathe because of fear. Her face is pale. Her hands are cold and sweaty. Her legs are trembling like jelly. She swallows heavily.
  • "What are you doing in my house?" he asks in his thick and demanding voice.
  • The young girl covers her mouth with both hands, then looks at him carefully as he turns around. She feels her body trembling, and even more so when she sees him approaching with firm steps.
