Chapter 4 A different Triple J

  • Jimmy walks into the major sitting room of the Queen Empire, they had just arrived home. The young man looked around but the place didn’t look familiar at all to him. He had been having small flashes of memories that disappeared shortly ever since he woke up but none of them had something to do with this house.
  • The rest of the family were slowly following him behind, they had given him a little space to see if he would recognize the house but from the confusion on his face, they could tell that he remembered nothing.
  • Aria walked up to him and intertwined their arms and fingers, he stared at her and she was glad that he didn’t panic. He hadn’t said a word to any of them since they left the hospital, but somehow she felt that wanted to be around her. She wouldn’t even come with them until she asked personally.
  • You probably think it is normal because she is his fiancée after all but that isn’t the case. In fact, Aria is the last person that Jimmy would listen to. Yes, he was going to get married to her, but only because their family wanted it so. Their parents had been friends for years and they wanted to keep the friendship alive through their next generation, so this was a sort of arranged marriage.
  • So, back to the point, Jimmy choosing to listen and feel comfortable around Aria was quite ironic, his favorite person in the family was his mom. The only other person he had a close bond with was his best friend; Steve Malcolm.
  • “Do you remember anything?” Aria asked softly as she looked into his eyes with love and care.
  • Jimmy waved his head sideways. “No, I don’t recognize this place.” He replied softly, he sounded scared and worried, but of course it was a scary experience. Have you wondered what it would feel like to wake up and not be able to remember anything, not even who you are?
  • Aria sighed and placed her head against his arm. “It is your home, our home… Don’t worry, you will remember soon, just don’t force it or you might hurt yourself.” She advised.
  • Well, her father was a doctor, so she had little idea about human health. It was a very hot afternoon in Las Vegas, the sun was extremely hot this time of the year, and everyone knows how climate change affects Las Vegas.
  • “Come, let's get you to rest a bit, maybe that will help you remember something. You are going to be fine,” she spoke kindly and he nodded.
  • Aria took his hand and led him up the stairs while the rest of the family stood down there in the sitting room, watching them go up. An unusual feeling had engulfed the whole household and it could be felt at every corner, this was the quietest the house had been in months.
  • Aria took Jimmy up to their bedroom, well his bedroom which he shares with her. Not like there weren’t other rooms but Jimmy wouldn’t wait till the wedding day to have her on his bed, and she just wanted to please him, not just because of her father but she had taken a liking to him as well.
  • Jimmy wandered around like a stranger, he felt like one. How could this be his room and yet he doesn’t remember anything here, nothing feels familiar, not even the scent of the place. He inhaled and exhaled deeply, not wanting to force it like Aria had warned him against.
  • He didn’t know why but he just felt like he could trust her. She was nice, had a calming spirit, a beautiful voice and face as well; maybe that was why his inner man accepted her immediately.
  • He watched her as she arranged the bed sheets, he looked around and saw photos of himself on the wall, except that he had no memories of himself in those thuggish outfits. In fact, the few flashbacks that came to his mind was always him on a black suit, the memory was short and always faded in a short time, it wouldn’t come back until he was not thinking about it.; that particular memory kept returning and he thought it must have had something to do with his present condition.
  • Maybe it was a special event in his life, once which he always thought about so his brain cells were used to recollecting that particular scene. He just wished it didn't vanish so soon, maybe he would remember something more than that.
  • “Alright, you can lie down now,” Aria said with a smile, jolting him out of his thoughts.
  • Jimmy nodded and got into the blanket. Aria smiled immediately, at least his Primary memory was still functioning. He knew how to speak, he knew that he should stay under the blanket, so this was definitely just a temporary glitch, she was certain that he would be fine soon.
  • Aria helped him take off his shoes, she then realized that those shoes did not belong to him. Where had the hospital gotten it from? They must have given him the wrong pair of shoes. She sighed and put them in the shoe rack; hospitals and carelessness.
  • Aria came back and covered him properly with the blanket, she then patted his forehead. He had a curly short blonde, a dirty one which she was used to, but something was off. He had cut it really low, and it wasn’t so when he left this morning. Did he perhaps get a haircut before the accident?
  • She decided to let go of the thought, it wasn’t what she needed to worry about right now. She felt his forehead for a fever but he was doing just fine, the whole time he lay there staring at her quietly, his droopy gray eyes looking calm yet intense.
  • Aria caressed his face, she was glad that she could be close with him without him getting mad and furious at her. Before the accident, she wouldn’t even dare do this with him. Intimacy and love-making was only on his terms and his time. When he wanted it and how he wanted it, he was always in charge and she was just there to obey orders, so being in charge for the first time felt good to her.
  • “Um… you should rest, I would be outside in the hallway if you need something. Just call out to me,” she said kindly and then stood up. He nodded in acceptance and she smiled before turning to leave.
  • “Aria,” she heard him call her name as she approached the door and she froze. Did he remember? Was his memory back?
  • She turned around immediately and stared at him. “Yes,” she uttered with a curious look on her face.
  • “Thank you,” he said with a small smile.
  • “Huh? You said?” Aria asked immediately in surprise. She couldn’t have heard right, Jimmy didn’t just say thank you, did he?
  • “Thank you,” he said much louder. Now she heard it clearly, he really had said those magical words.
  • She smiled and nodded before turning around and walking out in shock. Aria closed the door behind her and placed her back against the wall. How was this possible? Jimmy said thanks? She didn’t know that he even knew those words because he never said thank you. The best he could do was not complain after you have done something nice for him, but he never shows appreciation.
  • Aria was glad with the latest development, she was very much in shock and hoped that things remained this well. If this accident was going to change Triple J for the best, then she had no regrets, she was very much glad that it happened.
  • To be continued!!
