Something serious was going on and if nothing else but a desperate need to not think about my lost baby, I firmly but gently pushed Kate aside and went to the bed where Ashlyn was sitting. I crouched before her and looked up into her face. Ashlyn's brilliant blue eyes were a dull sheen, but she held my gaze.
