• “So let me get this straight,” Monique says, pacing the living room like she’s piecing together a murder board. “You’re sexually attracted to Dominique Voss. You like him—though you’ll never admit it out loud—and you loved the sex you had with him. But when he offers you more of the best sex of your life, minus commitment, you say no?” She pauses, staring at me like I’m an unsolved puzzle. “Tell me the truth, Robyn—what’s the color of your problem?”
• I blink at her, deadpan. “White?”
• She stares, mouth slightly open, then flails her hands. “You’re insane.”
