- “Okay, guess who’s going to a charity gala tomorrow night?” Monique says, grinning as she strolls into the living room.
- It’s Saturday night, and I was halfway through zoning out to a Netflix crime doc before she strutted in like she owned the place. She’s been at Dave’s since Thursday, and she’s just now getting home.
- “Wow. Hello to you too,” I say, tossing her a look. “How was your day? How’s life without me? How’s the house you’ve practically abandoned?” I hug my knees on the couch. “What the fuck, Monique? Where are the pleasantries?”
