Chapter 7 The rejection

  • NOLAN
  • I walked into the office with Nigel trailing behind. We were supposed to have a meeting with Brian Enterprise on Monday but I had been busy with some personal stuff, so it was shifted. "You haven't told me what you had been busy with all this day," Nigel said
  • I ignored him and sat down. "Get the papers ready, we are leaving in ten minutes" I answered instead
  • He groaned. "Nolan, you've been acting so strange these few days. What's going on?"
  • I sighed. "Nothing is going on, ok"
  • "Nolan..."
  • "Can you get the papers ready, or do you want me to call Bella?"
  • He frowned. "Are you threatening me?"
  • I chuckled. "No, I only want to shut you up"
  • He folded his hands. "That's so unfair"
  • "You say unfair?". I picked my phone. "Maybe I should call her"
  • He dragged the phone. "Hey, I don't mean unfair. I am only..."
  • I rolled my eyes. "Trying to make me understand. I know". He frowned. "Can we go now?"
  • "You said ten minutes"
  • I stood up and picked the papers from the table. "I changed my mind"
  • "You can't just change your mind like that"
  • I placed the papers in my bag. "Well, I already did"
  • "Whatever" he mumbled as I passed the bag to him. I left him in the office and headed downstairs
  • "Good morning, sir" the receptionist greeted
  • I smiled. "Good morning, Bethel" I answered. It's so funny how I have been able to keep two identities and no one has ever suspected me as the ruthless alpha. My mind drifted back to the sunrise pack. The last one we fought with. I sighed. I still find it difficult to believe Matt betrayed me and sold me out to the alpha of sunrise. Thank goodness we were able to overcome them. I can't imagine what would have happened if we lost the battle. Everyone would have known who I am. I hissed. I won't trust any one of them again. Never!!.
  • "You're still here?" Nigel said from behind
  • I turned to see him dragging the bag. I furrowed my brows. "Hey, what are you doing?"
  • "What does it look like. Can't you see the handle is bad"
  • I narrowed my eyes. Bad?. Did he just say bad?. "The handle is ok"
  • "It's not. Look"
  • I took the bag from him and hooked the rope to the handle. "See?"
  • He stared at me and then at the bag. "I thought it was bad"
  • I laughed. "You thought?. You always thought"
  • "It was looking like it"
  • I scoffed. "Like what?"
  • "Like the handle was bad"
  • "Like the handle was bad" I mimicked. He glared at me and I chuckled. "We should go. We are running late". He ignored me and walked past me. "You won't wait..."
  • "I won't" he yelled. "And if you are not fast enough, you will be using a taxi"
  • I rolled my eyes. Is he been serious right now? I know he can't. "He won't dare to". Like why will he want to?. I rolled my eyes. I had the full assurance that he won't but when I heard the sound of the engine, I realized he was damn serious. I widened my eyes. "Nigel!!" I yelled
  • He ignored me and moved the car a bit. I had to run after the car. He was laughing so hard when I got close to him. "What was that for?"
  • He rolled his eyes. "For leaving me upstairs"
  • I hissed. "You made me run just because of that?"
  • "If you don't get in the car, I will leave you. This time I'm damn serious"
  • I rolled my eyes. "Whatever". I entered the car quickly before he changes his mind.

  • It's evening, Nigel has gone out with Bella, not after much talk though. Declan is having a meeting with the rest of the council. The packhouse is kinda empty. I decided to take a walk. I picked up my hoodies and went downstairs. The pack members kept greeting me as I walked past them. I went to the mountain and after walking for a while, I sat down to a nice view and plugged my headset to listen to music. My mind drifted back to Olive and I smiled. I kinda missed her. I miss her trouble. I miss the way she glares at me, anytime I stare at her. I smiled. It was more like a blush. It's not like I blush as a guy. I sighed. Does she miss me as I miss her right now?. I have not been in school for two days now, because of the preparation of the battle with the sunrise pack. I mentally rolled my eyes, remembering I will be telling her tomorrow that she's my mate. "What if she rejects me?" U thought.
  • "She won't do that," my subconscious mind said
  • I hissed. There is nothing that girl can not do. "Alphas don't get rejected by their mates"
  • Of course, I know but not when talking about Olive. But I know she won't reject. I should be the one to do that, not her. I stood up and went back to the packhouse. If I will be rejected or not, I will know soon. Whatever it is, I will know by tomorrow.

  • I didn't bother to go to work today. Nigel had advised us to come early. I left Nigel and Bella by car. When I got to the class, I dropped my bag. I wanted to sit down and wait for Nigel to come into the class, so we could talk before Olive enters but when I didn't see him, I suspected they might be having their usual couple's fight, which always lasts long enough to make you want to thank the moon goddess for not giving you a mate. I chuckled and stood up. I got outside to see Bella and Nigel talking. I had to read their lips. Nigel turned and when he saw me, he smiled. "Thank goodness, you're here" he yelled. I rolled my eyes. "Can you please tell Bella that I'm not cheating?" he yelled again. I groaned. "Come on, Nolan"
  • I walked up to them and sat on the car's bonnet. "If she thinks you're cheating, then you are"
  • Nigel widened his eyes. "Are you for real?"
  • I shrugged. "Th's what you get for calling me into your private matter"
  • He hissed. "I should have known you're up to no good"
  • I laughed. "I should have known, you were cheating on my sister"
  • Bella groaned. "You both should stop playing with me, ok?. I'm been serious here"
  • I rolled my eyes. "Say that to your mate"
  • "Say what?" Nigel asked
  • Bella waved her hand. "You know what. Both of you should head for class". I jumped down from the car. "Nigel, we still have some score to settle". I chuckled. "And you too, Nolan"
  • Bella left and Nigel glared at me. "Sorry" I cooed
  • He ignored me and walked away. I followed him at a distance. He finally went to the class and I had to wait by Olive's locker for her. After a while, I sighted her, alone. I took a deep breath as she walked closer to me. "Hey, what the heck are you doing by my locker?" She yelled, drawing the students' attention.
  • I rolled my eyes. "Chill girl. You should be happy to see me"
  • She hissed. "I hate to see your face"
  • I smiled. "Get ready to see more of it"
  • She hissed. "And why should I?"
  • I smirked. "So, funny you're my mate"
  • She hissed. "And so?"
  • I batted my lashes. This girl has got guts. I hid my anger already building up. I lean on her locker and she growled. I smirked. I love to see her get angry. "That makes you mine"
  • She chuckled but suddenly stopped. She folded her hands and glared at me. "And who told you that?"
  • "I know so. You've been chosen as my mate by the moon goddess"
  • She laughed. "Sorry to burst your bubbles mister, I reject you!!".
  • I batted my lashes. Did she just rejected me in public?. She turned to leave. I watched her walked away and I stood rooted to a spot. It's so surprising I got rejected by my mate. Male alphas are known to reject their mates but in my case, I am the alpha who got rejected by his mate.
