• "Princess!" My dad exclaimed, exasperated at my question but I kept a stoic look on my face. He then turned to my mum who was already staring at him. They both held each other's gazes for a while before my mum sighed and turned to me.
• She stretched out her hand across the dining table and grabbed mine "We love you, Selene, not being your biological parents doesn't change that" she reassured me and squeezed my hand gently.
