Chapter 4 Embracing The Unknown 2
- Ann:
- I sat there speechless, I couldn't believe what I had just seen, and a knot formed in my stomach as I struggled to make sense of what I was seeing.
- “And you are? Kat asked rudely.
- Immediately I stood up realizing I shouldn't have sat down before them. I'm sorry, am Ann.
- “Hmm, do I look like I care?
- “But you just asked I murmured within my breath.
- “What was that? she asked as if she could read my thoughts.
- “Nothing”
- “Yeah, that's what I thought she said dragging a chair.
- I couldn't tell who she was to Mr Alex, Immediately the chef standing close by dishes out our food. We all ate in silence, was he not going to acknowledge my presence? He hasn’t spoken to me since he entered the room. I couldn't help but wonder if I was invisible. When he was satisfied he stood up and left. the annoying lady followed suit. What the F is going on, angrily I left my food and went up to my room. Why did he do that? He practically ignored my presence, if I didn't know better I would have said he didn't want me here but he had personally asked me to move in till the child's paternity was confirmed. So why was he acting cold towards me? I paced to and forth in my room, I was worried he might just walk in and ask me to leave my head kept replaying what happened at dinner, coming here was a mistake maybe I should just leave.
- Lost in her world, her thoughts stirring around her like a dense fog. Alex enters the room, his footsteps quiet against the hardwood floor. He watches Ann for a moment, and he approaches Ann slowly, not wanting to frighten her. "Hey, Ann," he says softly, his voice breaking through the silence.
- Ann blinks, returning to the present moment. She looks up at Alex,
- "What are you doing here? How did you get in?" she replies.
- “Hm, the last time I checked this was my house”.
- “What do you want, she asked already pissed at him for badging in without knocking”. And then he came closer, covering the gap between them, his hands landed on her hips, the thudding in her heart filled her ears, and she could feel her body tremor with nerves. His warm palm against her hips sent a shiver down her spine, as sensation heated her body from head to toe. He looked deep into her eyes, his right hand still on her hips, while his left fingers reached for her thighs, his warm fingers finally feeling the skin beneath her pyjamas, as his hands rode past her knee to her inner thigh, moving closer and closer to her womanhood, Her heart dropped in her stomach as she felt her bile rise in her throat, While an uncomfortable slither crawled over her spine. what was he doing? She had to stop him.
- Suddenly, the door swings open, and Mr Ben the manor Butler walks in. his presence immediately catches their attention.
- “Hello sir, he greeted him formally. Without even responding Alex left the room.
- “Sorry miss, I was checking if you needed anything. He asked with curiosity written all over his face.
- “Nothing, am fine she lied in between her teeth.
- “Ok miss he replied and left the room.
- After a moment she lay down on her bed and soon she was fast asleep only to find Mr Alex portraying in her dream.
- I found myself in his bedroom, Mr Alex made an appearance, looking dashing with his upper body naked exposing his well-built muscles, I hungrily drank in his whole body, every cell in my body was yearning For him, his lips were soft, inviting me to taste them. And then he climbed the bed to join me causing my heart to thump, I gulped hard, feeling as if it was hard to breathe. He then placed his hand on my thigh, moving it slowly to my womanhood.
- With a loud gasp, I woke up. I couldn't believe I saw him again in my dreams. As I lay there, still half awake, details of the dream floated through my mind, what was wrong with me, why was I dreaming about him? This was not the reason I was here in the first place. I need to focus on more important things. I got up from bed, ready to face the day, took my bath and then headed downstairs for breakfast, this time I was late, everyone was already eating before I got there.
- “Good morning, I greeted.
- “Morning, Mr Alex replied. with a smile on his face, probably he was in a good mood this morning I thought to myself. I dragged a chair and sat directly opposite him, it was another awkward moment, I couldn't stop thinking of the things he did to me last night. We kept stealing glances till breakfast was over.
- After breakfast, I decided to paint, painting has always been a way of escaping from the complexities in my life. I bought out a blank canvas, and with a focused expression, I dipped my brush into a pot of white paint, carefully selecting my first strike. As the brush meets the canvas, a feeling of peacefulness washes all over my body. And I found myself in the rhythmic motion of painting.
- “That's beautiful, a familiar voice from behind complimented. it was Alex.
- “ Thank you, I replied, I could feel my cheeks flushed. We both stared at the painting admiring its beauty.
- “I have been looking everywhere for you, he said breaking the silence. I couldn't stop thinking about you, events of that fateful night keep replaying in my head. I missed you being in my hands, I miss your lips… he hadn't finished talking when the annoying lady walked in.
- “what's going on here? She asked giving me a hateful glance.
- “Nothing Katherine, We were just discussing her paintings”.
- “OK, I need you to come help me with something inside.
- “OK, I'll be with you shortly.
- “Why are you doing this? I asked. “Doing what? he replied moving closer covering the gap between us.
- “This… one minute you are into me, the next you are not, what exactly do you want? I could feel my emotions betray me.
- “ Me wanting to have fun with you. Doesn't hurt, or does it? He asked with an air of confidence.
- This was fun to him, Angryly I stormed out of the room, not bothering to look back, not wanting to see his expression or wait for him to say another word, I was hurt by his words, I meant nothing to him but rather his bedmate. I wrestled with my emotions, feeling a mixture of anger and sadness swirling inside me I couldn't understand why I was hurt by what he just did.
- The next day the DNA test result was to be out, I sat in the DNA testing waiting room, my fingers tapping tensely against my knee as the anticipation hung thick in the air. Alex moved in his chair uncomfortable next to me, staring at the ground as though he was deep in concentration.
- Alex had planned to take this test for weeks, driven by a desire to learn the truth about the child's paternity. However, as we awaited the outcome, a feeling of anxiety descended upon us.
- I found myself trapped in a whirl of ideas as the minutes passed. What if the outcomes showed something I didn't expect?
- Alex was by my side, putting out his hand and giving me a comforting squeeze. His voice was quiet but firm as he replied, "Ann, we'll face the results together, whatever they may be."
- I nodded, appreciative of his consoling remarks. At last, the waiting room door opened, and a nurse emerged with a folder in her grasp. She yelled out, "Ann and Alex?" with a voice that pierced through the tension like a dagger.
- We both looked at each other, got up, and followed the nurse into a small examination room. As the nurse opened the folder and started reading the results, we took our seats across from her, our hearts racing in our chests.
- The nurse's words seemed to blend as she spoke, we both sat in startled silence as the nurse concluded her statement. She handed over the result to Alex, He carefully opened the envelope, one could tell the tension and anxiety in the room, his eyes widened as he read the result. I quickly took it from him to confirm what was in it. Thus it read he was the father of my unborn child, and the DNA test result was positive. There was silence in the room one could hear if a pin was dropped and then he broke the silence.
- “Marry me, he said in his deep cold voice”
