Chapter 465 Storm Special Training!

  • Seeing Captain Ye sulking in the back seat with his fists clenched, Michael Shephard knew the guy wasn’t buying it. But he couldn’t be bothered. He said to Mudan, who was driving, “Did General Zhu get done what he promised me?” Mudan nodded, respectful. “All handled, Mr. Shephard. Rest easy. We’ve already assigned people to secretly protect your wife and daughter around the clock…” “Good.” Michael nodded, satisfied. This was what he cared about most. After Sophia Lewis’s car accident last time, Michael was consumed with regret. He wasn’t about to watch that happen again. He agreed to be General Zhu’s instructor largely because of this. Sophia’s accident was the first time he really felt danger breathing down his neck. Ever since he inherited Taoist medicine, he’d stirred up a lot of enemies. He wasn’t afraid of anyone coming for him. But if they went after Sophia and Laura Lewis? That’d be a disaster. “Hmph.” In the back, Captain Ye let out a soft snort. He hadn’t expected General Zhu to agree to that request. Even General Zhu’s own family didn’t get treatment like this. Yet this new training instructor had the guts to ask for it? Captain Ye’s dislike for Michael grew even heavier. “What a big shot.” “Once we get to the Storm Special Training Unit, we’ll see if you’ve got anything real.” He swore to himself, bitterly. Thinking of the brothers in the Storm Special Training Unit, his anticipation spiked. The Storm Unit’s members were all elite soldiers handpicked from every squad in the Northshire Province Military Zone. Each one was a glory hound who bowed to no one. If you want their respect, it’s simple—show skills they can’t deny. And right now, he didn’t believe Master Shephard had any. … Deep in the mountains of Northshire Province, a group of muscular soldiers were resting together on the training field. “Heard the zone got us an instructor to coach one-on-one combat skills. And he’s coming today?” In the crowd, a big-headed soldier scoffed. Someone answered, “Yeah. Word is Captain Ye went to pick him up himself.” The big-headed soldier perked up, excited. “Oh? That kind of treatment? Captain Ye went in person?” Another guy snorted, “Bighead, don’t tell me you think Captain Ye is picking him up out of respect.” Bighead blinked. “Then why? Didn’t Captain Ye recommend this instructor himself? Why wouldn’t he respect him? Which master is it?” Nobody answered. They burst out laughing instead. “Bighead, your head’s huge but not very sharp, huh?” “If Captain Ye had recommended him, sure, he’d respect him. But I heard General Zhu invited this one personally. He’s a young guy, not even thirty.” “What? Not even thirty?” Bighead froze. “Younger than me?” The others nodded. “Yep.” Bighead bristled. “Not even thirty, and he’s supposed to teach us personal combat? Weren’t they getting us a real master? What’s a punk kid gonna do here?” “Who knows? But General Zhu did invite him. Probably some rich family’s son, or a higher-up’s kid coming down to pad his resume.” someone said in the crowd. Bighead snarled, “This is ridiculous! I’m going to talk to General Zhu!” The others rushed to pull him back. “Bighead, Captain Ye already talked to General Zhu. Didn’t change a thing. What good will you do?” “Yeah, man, don’t make trouble for yourself.” “Cool it, Bighead. If this punk came to the wrong place, we’ll make sure he learns fast. Our Storm Special Training Unit isn’t some place you breeze into and coast.” Bighead nodded. “Damn right.” He clenched his fists. “If he wants to be our instructor, he’s gotta get past me first.”
