Chapter 8 Habitual Liar
- Not only was Ava rude, but she even dared to refuse him. Damon kept his expression cold. His eyes flashed with disdain as he asked, "Are you sure you don't want to get in?"
- This damn woman. I didn't mind her sitting in my car; who gave her the courage to refuse me time and again?
- Ava shook her head vigorously. Are you kidding me? I didn't want to die just yet.
- Damon's death glare intensified, and he finally spat out through gritted teeth. "Fine. Don't expect to see your son again."
- He turned to Ben and commanded, "Drive."
- "Huh?! Alright," Ben said. He noted the tension but dared not intervene. The best he could do was follow orders.
- Ava was stunned for a moment.
- My son!
- Did he just agree to let me see my son?
- This had been her biggest worry for the past five years. She wanted to see her son but didn't dare come back. If not for Zeke needing to start school and requiring documentation, she wouldn't have shown up in front of this man.
- When she realised what was happening, the car had already sped far away.
- "Wait! Wait for me!" Ava called out to them and ran after the car.
- Inside, Damon leaned back against the leather seat, arms crossed. He watched Ava run, out of breath, through the rearview mirror. A satisfied smile formed on his lips.
- "Mr. Damon, Madam has caught up with us. Should we stop the car?" Ben asked, unable to ignore the scene.
- "Keep driving," Damon replied nonchalantly.
- Helplessly, Ben slowed the car a little.
- Gradually, Ava was exhausted from running. She ran too fast, which eventually caused her to stumble and fall. She continued to mutter, "Wait for me!"
- This was her chance to see her son. She couldn't give up easily.
- But she was too tired and unable to get up.
- "Mr. Damon, she has fallen," Ben reminded him.
- Damon casually glanced at the rearview mirror, and he saw Ava lying motionless on the ground.
- "Ben, reverse the car."
- "Yes, Mr. Damon." Ben was delighted. He knew Damon was kind-hearted beneath his cold exterior, not as ruthless as people thought.
- Ava saw the car reversing. Despite her fatigue and pain, she quickly got up and got in.
- Her swift movement left both men in the car momentarily stunned.
- Damon's expression darkened. Clearly, this woman had pretended to fall to gain his sympathy.
- This damned vixen had tricked him again.
- He shouldn't have shown any mercy. This woman's habitual lying hadn't changed, but it had gotten worse.
- The thought of this woman being Aster's mother made Damon feel it was a huge disgrace for both him and Aster.
- The car ride continued in silence, each lost in their thoughts.
- ...
- Lindon Group Tower.
- As Ava stepped out of the car, she stared up in awe at the towering, magnificent building.
- During their two-year marriage, she had always kept to herself, never inquiring about Damon's work. She knew only that he was very wealthy.
- Seeing it with her own eyes now, she realised this wasn't just wealth; he was filthy rich.
- He didn't hear her footsteps following, so Damon stopped and turned around. Damon saw her gazing at the building with a starstruck expression, looking like a country bumpkin who had never seen the world.
- In just this brief interaction, he felt reaffirmed in his decision to divorce her.
- This woman had manipulated his grandmother's affection to marry him and then deceitfully drugged him to climb into his bed.
- Now, was she trying to use Aster to climb higher?
- Hmph! This woman was cunning to the core and willing to use her son for her benefit. He would have to teach her a lesson.
- Damon hoped that in the days to come, she could still find a reason to smile.
- Ava's position in Damon's mind had plummeted to the ground in just one day.
- "Are you leaving or not?" Damon snapped back to reality, giving her a disdainful look.
- "Yes, I'm coming. Hehe!" Ava quickly scrambled to her feet, forcing a smile.
- She quickly scurried behind Damon.
- "Stop!" Damon frowned deeply as he saw her getting closer. He didn't want to be near her because she disgusted him.
- Caught off guard, Ava came to an abrupt halt, almost falling onto him.
- With a swift sidestep, Damon avoided her, and Ava fell flat on her face.
- She was on the verge of tears. This man was her nemesis. Within just half a day, he had caused her to fall several times.
- And the worst part? He didn't have the slightest bit of chivalry, not even offering her a hand to help her up.
- She silently cursed Damon, hoping he'd choke on his water, get food stuck in his teeth, and lose his wife to someone else.
- Hmph! A man like him deserves to be single forever!
- Damon's complexion remained dark. He watched as she tried to get up. This woman had tried to throw herself at him in public.
- Unfortunately for her, he wasn't like other men who'd fall for her tricks.
- Damon spoke through gritted teeth, glancing at the woman on the ground with contempt.
- Ava pouted silently.
- What had I done?
- Are you kidding me? He is the reason I fall every time.
- How could he blame me for that?
- For ten years, his appearance blinded her, leading her to like him. Now, she realised he was a selfish, domineering, and manipulative man who didn't deserve her love.
- However, she endured it for her son.
- She quickly got up and hurriedly followed him.
- Inside the lobby.
- As they walked through the lobby, Ava noticed the curious glances from the employees. She could only smile and nod slightly.
- "Oh, my godness! The boss has a woman with him."
- "This is first! Other than Ms. White, this is the only woman he has brought here.
- "Yeah! If her boss personally attends to her, she must be someone special."
- ...
- The crowd was just about to leave work, but they paused to watch. The women were especially curious. They gossiped incessantly about the private life of an eligible bachelor like Damon.
- "Shh! Keep your voices down. Are you crazy? How dare you gossip about the boss?"
- One woman wisely reminded them to be cautious.
- They realised they had almost forgotten about Damon's ruthless and decisive nature. They quickly silenced their gossip.
- Nevertheless, their eyes followed the pair into the president's exclusive elevator.
