Chapter 8 I'm In Love

  • My mind flashed to Leo—was he the one who did this? The thought lingered, but I shook it off. He won't go that far for me, and it doesn't even look possible since he was just a teacher.
  • Maybe it was someone else, a new protector sent by fate. Either way, whoever saved me from Jaden’s wrath, I owed them everything.
  • I sat beside Jaden, and he did spare me a glance. His face was flushed with humiliation, his fists clenched so tightly it seemed like he was ready to kill someone.
  • “Good morning.” I greeted him with a sarcastic tone. His head snapped toward me, eyes blazing with fury, as if he might breathe fire any second.
  • “What the hell is the greeting for, bitch?”
  • “Why are you so aggressive? It was just a greeting.” I smirked watching his jaw tighten. He looked like he wanted to strangle me dead at that moment.
  • “I refuse to believe they were just random robbers! Stop playing innocent as if you don't know what you sent them to do!” He seethed, wincing as his head ached a bit.
  • I frowned, squinting at him. “What are you talking about? I don’t know anything about a robbery. Were you robbed?”
  • Before he could respond, the English teacher walked in, putting an end to our conversation.
  • But my mind wandered in thought. Who robbed him and took all of that from him? Who sent them? Someone had made sure those videos were gone, but I couldn’t think of anyone who cared about me enough to do something like that. No one loved me that much.
  • “So a group of men came as robbers and made sure they got rid of all those videos?”
  • Wow.
  • The professor was done, and next on the timetable was Maths.
  • Just as the English teacher was leaving, Leo stepped in, and my stupid heart skipped a beat in his presence, thumping like it was fighting to break out of my ribs.
  • He began his lecture and was able to hold everyone's attention, even Jaden, who for once didn’t dare to disrupt his class. I guess Leo had decided to forgive him and allow him stay in his class after that threat the last time.
  • I sat and watched him with pure admiration as he took his time to teach every topic meticulously. My eyes were fixed on him with an uncontrollable smile etched on my face, but he wouldn't look in my direction at all. I don't know why he was avoiding me.
  • After breaking down algebra problems, he opened the floor for questions. The female students took full advantage, asking ridiculous things just to keep him talking. One even had the audacity to ask if he was single.
  • “I don’t answer anything unrelated to my teaching,” he replied coldly.
  • Another girl tried again. “Can I bring you questions I don’t understand to your office?”
  • “I’ll drop my email. Send your questions there. No one is allowed in my office.” His voice was firm as he wrote his email address on the board.
  • I quickly scribbled it down.
  • “I’m not obligated to reply to everything,” he warned. “And if anyone disturbs me with irrelevant messages, I’ll block them. And once you’re blocked, you’re never getting unblocked.”
  • His eyes flicked toward me.
  • I flinched under his gaze, butterflies erupting in my stomach. I hated how easily his eyes could undo me. No matter how much I fought it, all it took was one look from him to pull me back under his spell.
  • Could he be my mate? Then why can't I smell any mate scent from him? And ever since we met, I had never been able to communicate with his wolf. One could mistake him for a human if he didn't have wolf scent hovering around him.
  • Another special thing about him is his appearance. Does he know he would win as the most handsome werewolf in this pack? Why isn't he a model? Does he have a family?
  • I wish I could know more about him but he is secretive.
  • He left the class, and we had one more lecture before the bell finally rang out for break period.
  • “My father has commanded the hunters to search for those men who did this to me,” Jaden hissed beside me, wincing as he nursed his injured arms. “When they’re caught, you’ll regret it. I swear. I am sure you have a hand in this." He sounded so hopeless.
  • I giggled feeling no trace of fear for his empty threat. “The only thing you should worry about is healing up. Stop being so dramatic.” I winked before dashing out of the classroom.
  • Leo said no one should enter his office, but I had to. He needed to hear this. Not only had Jaden lost my naked videos, but the one he forced me to record—the one that could have ruined him—was gone too. This was a miracle I had to share with him.
  • I was sure I would later find out who did this for me, and that person should know he or she just saved me from suicide, and also saved Leo.
  • Hopefully, it wasn't in the hands of someone who would use it against us in the future.
  • I knocked on his door, and there was silence. I knocked again, and this time the door clicked open.
  • “What did I say about students entering…?” He didn't finish before I slipped in under his arm.
  • “I have good news!!” I shrieked, my eyes wet in excitement, but he didn't react and maintained a stone face.
  • “I know you hate me, but you need to hear this. Jaden can’t leak my videos anymore. He doesn’t have them! Some men broke in last night, pretending to be robbers, and they took—”
  • “How do you know that?” he interrupted.
  • “My ex-friend, the one dating him, told me. And he confirmed it in class. Not just that, there was another video he forced—”
  • “Forced?” Leo cut me off, his voice sharp. “Maybe you should stop using that word.”
  • I froze. “What do you mean?”
  • “He didn’t force you to do that. You were really going to lie against me. You were going to destroy my life. Diane, if that video had leaked, I’d be finished.” He growled sadly, and it was like my heart was ripped out.
  • My knees felt like jelly as I stared at him. His eyes were filled with something worse than anger—sheer disappointment as though I betrayed his trust.
  • But how did he know about the video? Did he see the video? How? Where?
  • Wait! Was he the one that??..
  • “Leo,” my voice wavered. Were you one of the robbers? Are you the one who got rid of that video from Jaden?” I asked breathlessly as tears found their way down my eyes.
  • He exhaled harshly, running a hand through his hair. “I wish I could hate you,” he muttered. “I really don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
  • With a loud his, he turned his back on me and walked to his chair. He sank into it, his legs propped up on the desk with an expression I couldn't read.
  • “I’m really sorry about that video,” I whispered. “He made me do it. He said if I did, he wouldn’t release my nudes. My parents wants to win votes to be the next gamma. That is a huge promotion they had been fighting for. If those videos got out, it would ruin them. I was terrified.”
  • Leo sighed, his voice low. “I believe you.”
  • My mouth fell open, a wide smile spreading across my face.
  • “Really?”
  • “Yes. I believe everything you say and it sucks.” he admitted bitterly. “Now wipe your tears and leave before you raise suspicious eyes on us.”
  • "Thank you so much! We will see after school!" I squeaked before scurrying out, grinning from ear to ear.
  • That new protector fate gave me which I was looking for was still Leo. He had saved me once again and I was the stupid one to think he doesn't care. Now I see why Jaden was beaten that badly.
  • My heart fluttered as I remembered what he told me in his office. He said he can't hate me and believes every word I say.
  • God.
  • I don't think I can control it anymore. I am in love with him.
