Chapter 5 Mixed Feelings

  • The entire class was left confused, murmuring among themselves after Jaden’s comment.
Everyone seemed to be trying to decode what exactly he meant.
  • “Silence!” Leo commanded sharply. The room fell quiet.
I watched him stride over to Jaden, his left hand in his pocket, the veins in his muscular arms taut with restrained anger.
  • “I won’t tolerate nonsense from anyone. If you continue to disrupt my class, I’ll keep sending you out every time I show up. And eventually, you’ll fail this subject,” Leo said with a snarl. “You know what that means? You’ll keep repeating this class every semester.”
  • Jaden scoffed, clearly unfazed. A smirk tugged at his lips.
  • “Seems like you already hate me, huh? Why?” He sneered. “Everyone here is wondering why you’re targeting me. Honestly, I’m curious too.”
  • “I’ll do the same to any other student who disrespects my presence in class,” Leo hissed and turned to walk back to the front of the room.
  • Jaden chuckled and nudged my shoulder.
  • “We were both talking, yet he only threatened me. What’s going on? Are you two dating already? Is he your mate or something?” he asked loud enough for everyone—and Leo—to hear. “Incredible. So, tell me… did he take your virginity that night?” He smirked, not even bothering to lower his voice.
  • It was clear—he feared no one.
  • “Get out of my class!” Leo’s voice sliced through the air. “You’re banned from my lessons for a week!”
  • Jaden’s eyes narrowed as he turned to face him. “Take it easy, buddy. I was just asking her for a pen.”
  • “Leave, or I’ll personally fling you out,” Leo warned.
  • Jaden only nodded with a smug smile and walked toward the door. But just as he reached it, he paused beside Leo.
  • “I’m the Beta’s son, in case you didn’t know. I’ll probably be the next Alpha. You really don’t want me as your enemy… or you’ll regret your life in this pack.”
Then he turned to the rest of the class. “You all should watch out for the trending news on the school portal soon.” He smirked, winked at me, and walked out.
  • I closed my eyes, heart pounding, my breath shaky as I tried to calm my nerves.
I knew exactly what he meant. He was going to leak my nudes.
And if there had been even the slightest chance of forgiveness, Leo just ruined it.
  • Everyone went on to introduce themselves one by one, and then it got to my turn.
  • “Tell me your name,” Leo said, “and while you're at it, let me know the name of the boyfriend I just kicked out.”
  • “He’s not my boyfriend!” I blurted as I stood. “My name is Diane"
  • “Alright then. Not your boyfriend—your partner. You share the same desk. So, what’s his name?” he asked casually with a shrug.
  • “I… I don’t know him,” I lied, shaking my head.
  • Leo scoffed and looked away.
  • “I’ll see you all tomorrow. That’s when I’ll start my first proper lesson,” he said and exited the room.
  • Leo’s POV
  • I had to leave the class, even though I’d planned to cover one topic today.
The shock of seeing Diane again wouldn’t let me focus.
  • What kind of sick joke was this?
  • Why was she in the very class I was assigned to teach?
Why now, after all these months?
  • She was the last person I wanted to see after that one-night stand, yet somehow, here she was as my student.
And to make matters worse, Jaden was in the same class… and he clearly recognized me.
  • Diane probably thought I was here to protect her. She was wrong.
She had no idea her life was in danger just by being near me.
  • I had vanished that night for a reason—left before she woke up just because I wanted to keep her away from me.
I gave her nothing about myself, no name, no clue.
  • And now, like some cosmic prank, she ends up here.
  • When I walked into the classroom and saw her seated among the students, I froze.
She once told me her parents were just lowly pack hunters. This academy was for the rich and powerful—children of royals and elites. So how the hell did she get in?
  • I had no idea how to deal with this
  • I am a vampire. Not just any, but the vampire prince in disguise and that was an identity I must keep hidden. If anyone in this pack finds out what I am, my head will be hung on a stake in the town square.
Their hatred for vampires runs deep, especially after the war and we loathe them too.
  • And most of that hatred? It’s because of him—Alpha Kane the ruler of this pack.
  • He once tried to claim our kingdom with lies.
He told everyone we were sneaking into his territory to feed on his people, just so he could gain permission to attack.
  • It was proven false. But still, we sought peace.
  • So my mother, Queen Ilyana, came here with her maidens bearing gifts.
  • But she never returned.
  • We searched, pleaded, waited and Kane denied ever seeing her. Said she must’ve been killed by beasts in the forest on her way.
  • We never found her body till now.
  • The only thing I wished for Kane was disaster and pain and that was what brought me here. To destroy that one thing he treasured the most.
  • His daughter which he had kept a secret and after that, we will start the war he had always wanted.
  • I am here for revenge. Years of planning led to this and I will make sure he regret everything he did to us.
  • The witches in our kingdom had finally completed a charm strong enough to conceal my identity, to let me blend in with werewolves, having the same scent as them —though my fake inner wolf appears either dormant or absent.
  • My hatred for this pack, for werewolves, runs bone-deep.
And yet… somehow, Diane got under my skin.
  • My mind flashed back to the nightclub where we met.
When she spilled wine on my shirt, I was furious until I looked into her eyes.
  • Those pretty, sad eyes disarmed me and melted the anger inside me.
  • She tried to clean my shirt, apologizing like she expected me to hit her. It amused me.
  • I brushed her off, yet she returned, sitting beside me with a drink and a nervous smile.
  • She kissed me or rather stole it, for real but I didn’t push her away and enjoyed her soft tender lips on mine.
I hadn’t been kissed in years. Not since my life was ripped apart by war and loss.
  • She made me feel something… something I thought was long dead.
  • That night was unlike the others. It wasn’t empty like it had been with prostitutes.
It felt too real. Too…deep and intense
  • But it wasn’t love. It couldn’t be.
  • I could never love a werewolf. Never.
  • I’d rather feed on her blood and watch her die in agony.
  • Whatever I told her in bed that night was all lies and fake.
She means nothing to me. I must make sure she gets that in her head.
  • And if she gets too close again… she will die. I will kill her before she exposes me
Any relationships between vampires and werewolves always end in blood and who strikes first wins.
  • I have to make her hate me so she will stay far away.
  • As I reached my office, I found Jaden leaning against the doorframe, arms folded across his chest.
  • I wished he knew just how deeply I despised him.
  • “What do you want?” I asked.
  • He smirked.
  • “So, because you overheard me threatening Diane, you decided to get hired as a teacher just to protect her?” he scoffed. “How long has she been sleeping with you, huh? Or did you catch her scent and think she’s your mate? Doesn’t matter—you look like a werewolf with a dead wolf inside you and can’t stand a chance with someone royal like me.”
  • I’d heard he had no respect for anyone, thinking his father’s title made him untouchable.
  • But he had no idea who he was dealing with.
  • “I have no business with you or your girlfriend. Now, get away from my door,” I said coldly.
  • “Oh? So I should believe this was all a coincidence?” he asked, squinting at me.
  • “I didn’t know she was a student here. As for that night, I assumed she was just a desperate sex worker who offered herself up. Whatever happens to Diane is none of my concern.”
  • Jaden chuckled, then glanced behind me.
  • “You heard that, right?” he said smugly.
  • I turned sharply.
  • Diane was standing there.
  • Tears shimmered in her eyes.
