Chapter 1 How To Die
- “Commander Lightfield, is the person you're picking up Mr. Judd?”
- “Yes, Mr. Judd is the ace drill instructor at Juxshire Military District, and the most trusted royal physician of the king!”
- At the harbor of Lofbury, Jussipi, a car stood out. Parked beside a black off-road vehicle adorned with a Juxshire Military license plate, Clayton Lightfield, the commander-in-chief of Juxshire Military District, wore a look of pride.
- The dockmaster, Harvey Hoffman, who headed the Hoffman family, one of the top three first-rate families in Lofbury, earnestly pleaded, “Commander Lightfield, I beg you to grant my family the opportunity to welcome Mr. Judd. I, as the head of the Hoffman family, assure you that we will make him feel as if he's at home!”
- “Feel at home?” Clayton chuckled lightly. “This is his home.”
- “Um...” Harvey was utterly taken aback.
- “No need to trouble yourself, Mr. Hoffman. Please step back!” With a wave of his hand, Clayton commanded, “Clear the area!”
- Thump, thump, thump...
- Five thousand soldiers, armed with live ammunition, entered the scene. They cleared out all the bystanders within a kilometer radius of the coast.
- Harvey wanted to ask more but was instantly met with the ominous barrel of a gun.
- In no time, dozens of destroyers crossed the sea, forming a protective shield around a luxurious yacht as it made its way to shore.
- A young man leaped off the yacht, all by himself.
- Clayton stood upright, bowing respectfully. “Greetings, Mr. Judd!”
- “Greetings, Mr. Judd! How are you, Mr. Judd?” The soldiers raised their guns, shouting loudly, their voices resonating like thunder.
- Outside the defense circle, Harvey was almost bug-eyed with shock.
- Clayton, the sole ruler of one of the ten major military districts in Jussipi, was renowned for his illustrious military achievements and his reputation spread far and wide.
- He didn't even give a second thought to the usual high-ranking officials.
- Thus, Harvey found it difficult to believe that Clayton was showing such respect to a young man, who was not only the royal physician, but also the ace drill instructor.
- The small, black off-road vehicle left the dock. Outside the car window, Lofbury was somewhat different compared to seven years ago.
- Joshua Judd sat in the back seat of the car, soaking in the familiar scent of his hometown air. Emotions surged within him like a tide.
- He lost his mother at a young age and was raised by his limping father who begged in all directions to keep them afloat.
- Even strangers offered a bit of help, yet all their relatives provided were closed doors, endless cold stares, and incessant mockery.
- After growing up, he single-handedly established the new elite in the business world of Lofbury, Skyterra Pharmaceutical Group.
- It was unrivaled in its moment of glory!
- In times of prosperity, friends were plentiful. Relatives who once avoided Joshua and his father like the plague, now swarmed around them like wild dogs drawn by the scent of meat, showering them with flattery and attention.
- Initially, he didn't want to bother. But influenced by his kind and honest father's teachings, he continued to support his relatives, aiding them in their rise to success. Yet, the relatives were not content.
- Trent Calloway, under the guise of being the eldest in the family, demanded that Joshua surrender control of the corporation.
- Citing the division of the family by his uncle as a reason, his granddad demanded a substantial share of the corporation's stocks from him.
- His father-in-law, driven by the need to find a wife for his brother-in-law, coveted the position of the corporation's chairman.
- In pursuit of their goal, several relatives secretly joined forces. They not only manipulated Joshua's wife into divorcing him but also orchestrated a tragic accident. He was hit by a dump truck, leaving his body battered with broken bones and his life hanging by a thread!
- Then, they bribed the doctor to delay the treatment, and slandered him as being insane, eventually sending him to an asylum.
- The relatives were terrified that he might rise again from his downfall. Thus, they bribed his caretaker to push him off a cliff.
- Those relatives exploited him to the bone. They took advantage of him, consuming his resources as if feasting on his flesh and drinking his blood. They would have even made a soup out of his bones if they could.
- They were each filled with greed and mocking laughs. All insatiable ingrates, like hungry wolves with endless appetites.
- Fortunately, the heavens have shown compassion. In the face of certain death, Joshua managed to survive.
- Seven years later, he was the ace drill instructor of Juxshire Military District and an extraordinary miracle doctor.
- He was renowned in the military, held a high position in the royal court, and had a place of honor in the palace!
- His heart was burning with rage as he had returned to exact revenge against those who wronged him.
- “Clayton?” Joshua asked, “Can we make it to Seabreeze Hotel before 11:18 a.m.?”
- “No problem at all. Mr. Judd, I assure you, nothing will delay your attendance at your cousin's wedding!” Clayton stated, “Furthermore, the gift you asked me to prepare is already in place.”
- “Switch cars. I'm off to deliver gifts.” Joshua gave a soft, wicked smile.
- Meanwhile, the wedding ceremony of Xenia Youngblood from the Youngblood family, who was to marry into the Watson family, was set to take place at Seabreeze Hotel.
- Leveraging the power of Skyterra Pharmaceutical Group, the Youngblood family established a chain of a thousand pharmacies within the province. They also owned a large-scale renovation company, successfully securing their position among the premier families in Lofbury.
- Xenia's husband's family, although considered a second-rate family in Lofbury, held a dominant position in the city's building materials market, demonstrating their substantial strength.
- The gathering was bustling with guests, an extraordinary spectacle of liveliness.
- “My dear, please promise to take good care of our Watson family in the future!” Herbert Watson, the head of the Watson family, was radiating with joy as he enthusiastically engaged in conversation while holding onto William Youngblood's hand.
- “What are you talking about, Herbert? You have the building materials, and I have the renovation company. We're practically family!” William burst out laughing heartily.
- The Youngblood and Watson families became united through marriage, a perfect match indeed!
- The attendees of the wedding feast were all members of prominent families from Lofbury.
- “Congratulations to the Youngblood family on the marriage of their daughter. The son-in-law is a rare find, a young and talented gentleman!”
- “A match made in heaven. They're the envy of all around them!”
- “With the Youngblood and Watson families uniting in marriage, the rankings of the prominent families in Lofbury are bound to shift soon!”
- Everyone had high hopes for the newlywed couple, and even more so for the future growth of the Youngblood and Watson families.
- The young men from both families were busily coming and going, each one beaming with joy.
- At 11:18 a.m., the wedding took place as scheduled.
- Amidst the cheerful wedding march, the couple exchanged rings.
- “Ladies and gentlemen, let's take a stroll down memory lane with a video clip, revisiting the love story of our newlyweds!” The emcee's suggestion was met with thunderous applause from everyone.
- Following the applause, an abrupt sound echoed at the entrance. “It's better to arrive at the perfect time than to be early. It seems I've arrived just in time for the exciting part!”
- A silhouette sauntered down the red carpet intended for newcomers, approaching with a leisurely pace.
- He moved with the grace of a dragon and the stride of a tiger, carrying an inherent aura of power.
- In an instant, he captured the attention of the entire room.
- “Joshua?” The Youngblood family cried out in surprise.
- Their entire family had been involved in the plot against Joshua seven years ago.
- They were the ones who bribed the doctor, deliberately delaying the medical treatment after Joshua's car accident.
- They were the ones who conspired with the mental asylum caretakers to push Joshua off the cliff!
- After the relentless, ill-fated events of that year, they all assumed that Joshua was dead.
- Yet, at that moment, Joshua appeared in the flesh. How could they not be shocked?
- “Joshua? Which Joshua? The one who founded Skyterra Pharmaceutical Group seven years ago? Wasn't he said to have lost his mind?”
- “I heard his family has a genetic predisposition for insanity. Even before the car accident years ago, he was constantly losing consciousness, nearly causing the collapse of Skyterra Pharmaceutical Group!”
- “Hush! Who can clearly recount the affairs of the past? Don't believe in rumors, and don't spread rumors...”
- The guests were whispering amongst themselves, pointing and gesturing subtly.
- With a smile, Joshua stepped forward and asked, “William, Xenia is getting married. Why didn't I receive an invitation?”
- “You...” William steadied himself, gritting his teeth as he said, “Joshua, I am your uncle, and yet you dare to address me by just my name? Have you lost your mind? If you're sick, get treated. Don't run around causing chaos!”
- The expressions on the faces of his family members were stern, their words sharp as knives!
- “Joshua, you've been nothing but a curse, a monster! The day you were born, your father suffered a car accident that cost him his leg. Your mother struggled during childbirth, developed kidney failure, and tragically passed away without treatment!”
- “Not long after you grew up, you fell into mental illness, nearly bringing the entire Skyterra Pharmaceutical Group to ruin!”
- “To think you'd dare show up on such a joyous occasion, the Youngblood family wedding. Are you trying to harm both the Youngblood and Watson families?”
- “Joshua, get out! Leave immediately!”
