Chapter 6 Hand You My Head On A Platter
- Logan was a bit baffled and asked, “Uh... Are you saying you want to give me advice?”
- Joshua nodded, saying, “Your overall skill level is so-so, but with a little guidance, there's hope for improvement.”
- “Hahaha!”
- Everyone in Trent's family burst into laughter.
- “Quinley, where did you find this fool who has the audacity to speak so shamelessly?”
- “He's giving advice to Dr. Morris? He must have lost his mind!”
- “If you're so capable, why don't you prove it?”
- We've seen shameless people before, but never this shameless! Dr. Morris is a renowned expert and leading authority within Juxshire's medical community! Typically, people seek his advice instead! I can't believe such a young man like Joshua actually dared to offer him advice! That's so hilarious!
- Jonathan's face flushed red and he said, “Quinley! Get your friend out of here!”
- Joshua was introduced by Quinley, so his public embarrassment also cast a shadow over Jonathan's own reputation.
- Feeling a slight bitterness in her heart, Quinley subtly bit her lip and stole a few glances at Joshua.
- You're overwhelmingly reckless with your words, Joshua. I'm at a loss on how to even begin defending you! You weren't like this before! Why have you become so attention-seeking now?
- Logan blushed with laughter, remarking, “Old Mrs. Calloway, Mr. Jonathan, please remain calm. Since this young man is so confident in himself, I'm curious to hear his profound ideas.”
- With a faint smile, Joshua said, “I wouldn't say it's a profound idea. It's just that, I am a bit curious. How many doses would it take for your diagnosis to show results, Dr. Morris?”
- Logan held up three fingers. “Three doses! Just three doses of the medicine will show results! A total of five doses, and I assure you, Old Mrs. Calloway will be completely cured!”
- “Just three doses and to show improvement, huh? Dr. Morris truly lives up to his reputation!”
- “Now, this is what I call a cure! You're incredible, Dr. Morris!”
- “Some people really have no shame, daring to advise Dr. Morris. If you're so capable, why don't you try writing a prescription yourself?”
- Trent's family was all abuzz with discussion, their criticisms inevitably directed at Joshua.
- Clap! Clap!
- Joshua gently applauded, expressing, “Three doses for a full recovery? Your reputation is indeed well-deserved, Dr. Morris! I'm truly impressed!”
- The words were well-intended, yet they fell somewhat unpleasantly on the listener's ears.
- Feeling slightly annoyed, Logan furrowed his brows and asked, “Is there a problem, young man?”
- “There's just one small issue. What about Old Mrs. Calloway's urination before she finishes taking the three doses of medication? Three doses of medicine would take at least three days. How can her suffering be alleviated within these three days?” Joshua asked.
- Everyone in the master bedroom was collectively taken aback.
- The traditional medicine is all liquids and broths. Old Mrs. Calloway, who already had difficulty urinating, is expected to consume three more doses of it. It's possible that she wouldn't even survive long enough to see if the prescription works, as she could potentially die from urinary retention! How is this even a treatment? This is just adding on to her burden! This could even be a matter of life and death!
- The Calloway family, who had just praised Logan, collectively felt awkward.
- Logan instantly broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead.
- Someone suggested, “We could use a catheter! If we use it for three days, there's a chance she might be healed after that—”
- “Shut up!”
- Logan glared fiercely at the man, wishing he could give him a good slap across the face.
- Objectively speaking, using a catheter could indeed solve the problem, but I'm renowned as a master of traditional medicine! If I opt to solve the dilemma of traditional medicine through the use of a catheter, then it would be no different from disregarding my reputation! Most importantly, it would have been acceptable if a renowned figure in the medical community corrected this issue. However, for a young man like Joshua to point out my mistake to my face is nothing short of a slap in my face! It's a blatant insult! This is way too embarrassing!
- Gritting his teeth, he asked, “Impressive insight, young man! In your opinion, how should we treat Old Mrs. Calloway's illness?”
- “The primary issue is to ensure Old Mrs. Calloway can urinate normally.”
- Joshua then asked Quinley for a pen and jotted down a prescription. “Take this first dose, and you'll see the effects after it's finished.”
- Huh?
- Everyone in the master bedroom was taken aback once again.
- Just moments ago, Logan had administered a medicine that promised results within three doses, leaving everyone utterly astounded.
- Joshua, on the other hand, had the audacity to claim that one dose would do the trick.
- Are you kidding me? Why does this young man have the audacity to speak like that? He's shooting his mouth off!
- Trent took the prescription and glanced at it, his eyebrows furrowing as he asked, “This is a prescription for urinary incontinence, isn't it?”
- “I reviewed the medical records, and noticed that Old Mrs. Calloway had been using diuretics these past few days. Since the diuretic approach is not working, we should naturally reverse the strategy and try using a medicine that reduces urination,” Joshua remarked.
- “Nonsense! Grandma couldn't urinate to begin with, and you want to give her this kind of medicine? Are you trying to kill her?”
- “Going by your logic, if someone is thirsty, they shouldn't drink water but eat a few loaves of bread to quench their thirst? Are you really a doctor? Do you even know how to treat patients?”
- “Nonsense! Utterly absurd! Are you deliberately causing trouble?”
- Those from Trent's family vehemently refuted.
- “Then can you guys explain to me why Old Mrs. Calloway's condition hasn't improved after all these days of using the diuretics? Instead, it seems to be getting even worse,” he demanded.
- Joshua gave a faint smile, saying, “When one path doesn't lead the way, doesn't it mean we should stubbornly refuse to give up until we experience failure? According to the Golden Classic of Internal Medicine, when conventional methods fail, one might consider trying unconventional approaches.”
- Logan chuckled coldly, then said, “Young man, you truly are brave! Your unconventional methods in medicine are indeed impressive! If we go with your method, will it really be effective after just one dose?”
- “If it doesn't work, I'll hand you my head on a platter,” Joshua stated boldly.
- The look in his eyes was bright and clear.
- Logan sneered. “All right, then! If it doesn't work, I don't want your head. I want you to kneel down and apologize to me!”
- He was renowned throughout the entire state, and here he was, being openly challenged by Joshua. Naturally, he couldn't let this slide.
- If I don't teach him a lesson, he'll really think I am a pushover!
- Twenty minutes later, the prepared medicinal broth was brought to the master bedroom.
- Despite her reluctance, Heather managed to swallow down the bitter concoction.
- “Sorry to make you suffer like this, Grandma!”
- “You little brat... If anything happens to Grandma, I'll make you pay with your life!”
- “It's all because of Quinley, bringing such a goof to stir up trouble!”
- After witnessing the increased agony of Heather post consuming the medicinal soup, everyone from Trent's family pointed fingers of blame at Joshua.
- Logan turned his head and asked, “Young man, didn't you say the remedy would work immediately? How will you explain Old Mrs. Calloway's continued suffering?”
- With a subtle smile, Joshua said, “Old Mrs. Calloway has only just consumed the medicine, and you're already asking me about its effects? Aren't you being a bit too impatient? Take another look in five minutes.”
- Logan sneered. “All right, then! I'll give you five minutes! When the time comes, I'll be waiting for your apology!”
- “We'll wait with you, Dr. Morris!”
- Trent gestured and commanded, “Everyone, guard the doors and windows! Don't let this young man escape!”
- Thump! Thump! Thump!
- Upon receiving their orders, the servants of the Calloway family promptly secured all doors and windows.
- Jonathan wore a look of concern.
- If Joshua's prescription had worked, then it would have been fine. But if it hadn't, then things could get serious.
- Not only was Joshua set to be publicly humiliated, but Quinley would also become the target of everyone's criticism within the Calloway family.
- And as a father, he naturally had to share in the embarrassment as well.
- “Sigh...”
- Quinley, however, hadn't pondered so much. She simply sighed quietly to herself.
- Joshua, it's all my fault. If I had known it would turn out like this, I never should have told you about Grandma's illness. I've only brought trouble upon you...
