Chapter 5 Let Me Give You Some Advice
- Quinley leaned over to take a glance, then, with a huff, she stormed out the door.
- Before long, a commotion could be heard from outside.
- Upon hearing closely, Joshua realized that it was the housekeeper, Lydia, who had returned. Quinley was scolding her for not fulfilling her duties responsibly and keeping a close eye on Zachary.
- He walked out the door with a frown, and bluntly said, “Quinley, tell her to leave!”
- “Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to tell me to leave?”
- Lydia was taken aback, then promptly turned her focus onto Joshua.
- “I am the son of Zachary! You're not needed here anymore!” Joshua replied coldly.
- Lydia, wide-eyed as if she'd seen a ghost, asked with a trembling voice, “Y-You're Zachary's son? Joshua? Didn't Mr. Xavier say you were dead?”
- Mr. Xavier?
- “Who is Mr. Xavier?”
- Quinley's face turned pale, gritting her teeth, she said, “I wondered why you couldn't keep an eye on Old Mr. Judd every now and then, causing him to be harassed on the street. So, it was you...”
- Joshua let out an icy-cold chuckle as he said, “People from the Youngblood family were giving my dad a hard time, but they never forced their way into our home, right? Given that, unless there was an insider, how could those people always conveniently run into my dad every time he went out on his own? Lydia, leave immediately! Or else, I'll have you killed!”
- Having said that, he took a step forward.
- The moment his foot hit the ground, the bricks beneath him shattered.
- “I'll leave, then!”
- Startled, Lydia took a step back, grumbling resentfully, “Look at him, trying to intimidate me with that brute strength! As if I'd bother catering to that lunatic! Hmph!”
- Despite her tough talk, her actions told a different story. In a blink of an eye, she had swiftly slipped out of the hospital.
- “Don't you dare leave! I'll kill you, you traitor!”
- Quinley was in a rush to chase after her.
- Joshua stopped her, saying, “Let it go, Quinley. When dealing with this kind of person, even her death wouldn't satisfy our anger. As for this score, we'll settle it with the Youngblood family later!”
- “I'm sorry, Joshua...”
- Quinley felt very upset.
- The housekeeper she had hired to take care of Zachary was her responsibility. Now that something had happened, she was even more upset with herself for her poor judgment of character, for not seeing the true nature of people.
- Ring! Ring! Ring!
- At that moment, her cell phone suddenly rang.
- “Ah! It's my brother!”
- Quinley quickly picked up the call.
- Before she could even speak, Matthew's voice came over the phone. “Quinley, you need to hurry back to Grandma's! Uncle Trent has asked Dr. Morris to treat Grandma. I can't make it back in time, so you go on ahead to take care of things!”
- “Uh... Okay; I'll be right back!”
- After hanging up the phone, Quinley expressed her frustration, “Joshua, I can't believe how scatterbrained I am. I forgot to tell him you're back!”
- “You've always been a bit of a scatterbrain!”
- Joshua gave a slight smile, playfully tousling her hair.
- Following that, he asked, “What's wrong with Old Mrs. Calloway? Is she feeling unwell?”
- Being the matriarch of the Calloway family, she was indeed the head of the family.
- A while back, the main business of the Calloway family ran into some issues. She was frantic with worry, and fell ill, confined to her bed.
- After falling ill, he was unable to urinate. The hospital prescribed a diuretic, but even after taking it, there was no improvement.
- In the end, it was ultimately drained out through a catheter.
- The issue at hand was that despite having tried several diuretics, they were still unable to solve the problem at its root. They certainly couldn't keep using a catheter indefinitely.
- Logan Morris, a renowned doctor in the coastal province, was frequently featured on television and in newspapers. He was considered the pride of Juxshire's medical community.
- It was said that many important figures, both within and outside the state, who fell ill, sought his medical expertise.
- Joshua and Quinley rushed to the Calloway residence together. Logan, who was seated by the bedside in the master bedroom, was already taking Heather's pulse.
- In addition, Quinley's father, Jonathan Calloway, was also present. Moreover, Quinley's uncle, Trent Calloway, and his family were there as well.
- “Dad...”
- Quinley wanted to tell him about Joshua's return.
- “Old Mrs. Calloway's health is paramount.”
- Joshua subtly pulled her aside, whispering, “Could you show me Old Mrs. Calloway's recent medical records?”
- “Quinley, you're back? Wait over there for now.”
- Jonathan glanced back at Quinley and noticed Joshua, causing him to pause momentarily.
- This young man seems vaguely familiar... It's as if I had seen him somewhere before... Who could he be?
- As he watched Quinley hand over Heather's medical records to the young man, his lips pursed slightly.
- It seems that Joshua is the doctor Quinley had sought out to treat her grandmother. Though Joshua is still young and not necessarily a renowned doctor, nor guaranteed to be of any help, the fact that Quinley had this intention was indeed a point of pride for her old man...
- At that moment, Logan had finished taking the pulse. He said, “Old Mrs. Calloway is having difficulty with bowel movements. I believe it's caused by an energy stagnation in the lungs.”
- “Uh...”
- The entire Calloway family was collectively taken aback.
- It's true that Grandma can't urinate, but how is that related to her lungs?
- Jonathan asked cautiously, “Dr. Morris, could you please explain what you mean?”
- “Mr. Jonathan, in traditional medicine, it's believed that the human body functions as a whole unit. The smooth bowel movements are attributed to the driving force of lung energy. Old Mrs. Calloway's pulse indicated that she had been emotionally agitated a while ago. This led to an excessive internal heat, causing her body to produce phlegm, which in turn blocked her lung meridians. As a result, the energy in her lungs couldn't be circulated downward, naturally losing its driving force. This is what led to her difficulty in urination,” Logan explained.
- “Very impressive, Dr. Morris!”
- Jonathan's eyes lit up when he heard that, and he couldn't help but give a thumbs up.
- The rest of the Calloway family had similarly enlightened expressions on their faces.
- Their family primarily engaged in the business of traditional medicinal herbs, and they had a fair amount of knowledge about traditional medicine.
- Logan's explanation was clear and easy to comprehend, so they could understand it right away.
- “Your compliments are too generous, Mr. Jonathan.”
- Logan shifted his gaze onto Joshua, and said, “Young man, I see you're studying Old Mrs. Calloway's medical records so intently. You must be a doctor too, right? If you have any thoughts or ideas, feel free to voice them.”
- Joshua was momentarily taken aback, then he said, “Your diagnosis is accurate, Dr. Morris. I don't have any objections.”
- He was acquainted with everyone in the Calloway family. Upon hearing that Heather was unwell, he took the opportunity to visit while Zachary was asleep as he did not want to cause any additional trouble.
- “Is that so?”
- Logan chuckled and said, “I must admit, I didn't expect what I'd find at the Calloway residence today. I never thought I'd encounter such a talented and young miracle doctor like you.”
- Miracle doctor?
- All eyes from the Calloway family simultaneously fell on Joshua.
- What did Dr. Morris mean? Does he know this young man? Also, considering the young man's age, he couldn't be more than in his early thirties. How could he possibly be a miracle doctor?
- Logan smiled and said, “This young man was able to diagnose Old Mrs. Calloway's ailment without even checking her pulse, a testament to his remarkable skills. Had I known earlier that the Calloway family had invited such a skilled doctor, I wouldn't have bothered coming.”
- The faces of Trent's family collectively paled, and their attitude toward Joshua grew increasingly hostile.
- Dr. Morris is someone our family invited, placing great hopes on him. Should he become upset due to Joshua, and as a result, delay the treatment of Old Mrs. Calloway, who would dare take responsibility?
- “Grandma's minor illness was already completely cured by Dr. Morris's medicine. Why are you stirring up trouble, Quinley?”
- “Exactly! How dare you show off your meager skills before an expert like Dr. Morris?”
- “Stop with your petty tricks, Quinley! Even if you're trying to win over Grandma, you should at least think of a more reliable method! What's all this nonsense?”
- Trent's entire family united against Quinley.
- Quinley was so infuriated that her face turned livid. Silently, she clenched her fists.
- Joshua slightly furrowed his brow.
- Logan's ability to detect changes in lung energy and treat urinary problems clearly indicated his level of expertise.
- However, he was narrow-minded and intolerant, somewhat making him unappealing to others.
- I didn't interfere with your affairs, did I? Finding fault and stirring up trouble seems a bit excessive, don't you think?
- When Dr. Morris brazenly stirred up trouble, bringing misfortune upon Quinley, it was something Joshua found even more displeasing.
- “Great leaders have always advocated for the diversity of thought and open debates. We must allow differing opinions!”
- Logan looked at Joshua with satisfaction and said, “Feel free to voice your opinions, young man! I'm quite open-minded. If you have any unique insights, please don't hesitate to share them.”
- With a raised eyebrow, Joshua said, “You're being too kind, Dr. Morris. Since you're so open to learning, let me give you some advice.”
