• Lila cleared her throat and steadied herself in front of the camera. “Captain's log, final entry. With heavy heart that I make this recording, I'm making this recording, aware that it's my last. But I find comfort knowing our mission will damn well success. We were able to come up with a plan to save both Sigma Cygni II as well as the intelligent lifeform inhabiting the asteroid LV3457.”
• She paused briefly before continuing. “The plan involves using our ship's fusion drive to divert the asteroid's path. Our chief engineer has made the necessary modifications in order to create the necessary thrust, as required by our calculations. Dr. Watts and myself will stay behind to carry out this task, while the rest of the crew will cram into the shuttle and launch themselves towards Sigma Cygni II just as the asteroid passes by.”
