Chapter 151 Suspicious of Jolene Hamilton’s Motives

  • “She claimed that she wanted to use the restroom. But, I’m certain the restroom outside was empty at the time,” Victoria answered.
  • From what she said, even a fool would be able to tell that she was suspicious of Jolene’s motives. However, I simply smiled faintly. “I understand, Victoria. You’ve done a good job. It’s late; you should go to bed!”
  • She was clearly disappointed by my lack of response. Even so, she was used to taking hints. Thus, she returned to her room without saying anything else.
  • Afterward, I returned to my room. Carson was taking a shower in the bathroom, so I walked over to the bed, sat down, reached over to open the drawer of the bedside table, and carefully studied the contents of the drawer. The vitamins and the folic acid within the drawer were arranged neatly—it looked no different from how I left it this morning. Then, I opened the bag I always brought around with me, took out two bottles filled with vitamins and folic acid, and switched them with the bottles inside the drawer. After that, I placed my bag into the cabinet and locked it. Just as I finished doing these, Carson came out of the shower.
  • “Honey, I prepared the bathwater for you. You should go and have a soak. I’ll give you a massage later.” His words were sweet and endearing, but I felt disgusted after hearing them. Thus, I rejected his offer without even considering it. “Hubby, I’m too tired. I don’t feel like taking a bath.”
  • As I had always been particular about cleanliness, there was no precedence of my going to sleep without taking a bath beforehand. For that reason, he was rather shocked. However, he put it down to my pregnancy and did not push the topic further. Instead, he thoughtfully said to me, “Then, let’s skip the bath and go straight to bed. By the way, have you taken the vitamins and folic acid?”
