- I woke up with a jolt, rising up so fast from the bed that the aches returned with a vengeance. My head was aching as well and I nursed my temple, trying to clear my vision.
- I had just woken up from a nightmare, one in which Zane had kissed me and then dug a knife right into my back. He backed away with a malicious grin, telling me how much of a fool I was to trust him.
