Chapter 6
- I don't know why Elaine stormed out yesterday, I guessed it was because of Madalyn. But, she didn't seem all that angry with her, more with me. Well, according to the look she gave me before slamming my door on her way out.
- Madalyn didn't leave my room for a good 30 minutes even after I repeatedly told her to leave and that I didn't want Anything to do with her.
- I swear she's the dumbest teacher I know. She probably got the job by standing in the interview room till they had to give it to her because she wouldn't leave.
- In the end, I got up and left, saying I had to go home. I debated against locking the door on her so she's trapped, but she would 100% snoop around my room, which would be the worst possible situation.
- Now it's 2PM on a Saturday, and I have nothing to do. I don't have work, I don't have plans. I have nothing because I've already done everything.
- I went to the gym this morning from 7-9AM and then ate breakfast. After that, I took Harley on a long walk around the park.
- I'm now sitting on my coach, staring up at the ceiling, being the lonely bastard I am. I let Harley up to sit next to me because why not? I'll just wipe down the sofa after. Harley's a big dog, a fluffy one too and he makes a lot of mess with his fur. He's a Saint Bernard, meaning my house is just one big slobber pit. But I wouldn't change him for anything. He's honestly my best mate.
- "What should we do?" I ask him, gliding my hand down his soft fur. I turn and look at him to find he's fast asleep. Great...
- The walk must have puffed him out.
- I pull my phone out to snap a quick picture of my sleeping boy, but when the screen lights up, I'm caught off guard by a message from an unknown number.
- I take the picture, so I don't miss it, before opening the message.
- 11:49AM: Unknown: Hello? Is this Mr. Madisette?
- I stare at the message for a while. They know my name, well, the name everyone else knows me as. And they have my number?...
- The only people with my number at school are Elaine and a couple of the male teachers, but they would all call me by my first name, Zion.
- I type out a reply and hit send.
- 12:12: Me: Yes, it is. Who's this?
- The bubbles appear immediately, obviously this person uses their phone 24/7.
- 12:12: Unknown: Sorry, It's Kayla. I got your number from Elaine's phone.
- What the fuck does she need my number for?
- 12:12: Unknown: What did you do to Elaine?
- 12:13: Me: What do you mean?
- 12:13: Unknown: She came back to our dorm yesterday while me and Evelyn were asleep, but she's refusing to do anything with us today.
- 12:13: Unknown: It's only been since she came back from you.
- 12:14: Me: I don't believe I did anything. She seemed a bit pissed when she left my room.
- 12:14: Me: But Madalyn had come in just after we had finished.
- 12:14: Me: With tutoring.
- I add the last bit for reassurance. I don't know if she knows, I think it's a possibility, seeing how close she is with Elaine. But I sure fucking hope not. Young adults have big mouths.
- 12:15: Me: Unknown: Madalyn? Also, you don't have to say "tutoring". I know.
- 12:15: Me: Shit, sorry. I mean Miss. Canty. How do you know about it?
- 12:16: Unknown: Oh, god. That makes sense. Okay. Thx. I'll delete your number now.
- Shit.
- 12:16: Me: Hold on. Does anyone else know about it? It's just you, right?
- I click send, but I'm met with the words "Your message could not be delivered."
- Fucking hell...
- I drop my phone onto the coffee table in front of me before getting up and walking off to the kitchen. Whatever happened before has gone to the back of my head already.
- I hear the big oof of my dog jumping off the coach as well as his paws hitting the floor. He wants food.
- I grab the bag of dog biscuits and a cup. I scoop a good amount into the cup and fill his bowl. I watch him as he shoves his face into the bowl, demolishing his food in seconds. I promise I feed him, he's just a big dog. He can consume a shit ton of food in one go. I think it's impressive to be fair....
- I leave him in the kitchen to finish off his food. By finish off, I mean constantly lick his bowl like there's stuff still in it. It makes me laugh every time.
- The rest of the day I spend with my dog, watching useless TV. At some point I end up falling asleep and I sleep there for the rest of the night.
- _____
- "Come onnnn..." Kayla shakes me while I lay in my bed.
- "Get up! We want to go to the beach!" Evelyn shouts from the bathroom.
- I grab one on my pillows and shove it against my face.
- "Don't let a bitchy teacher get in your head." Kayla mutters, quiet enough for only me to hear. "You know he wants nothing of her, everyone on campus knows and can see it."
- "I know." I grunt, turning to face her and sitting up.
- "Then why are you still in bed, not doing anything?" She flaps her hands up in the air before smacking them down on her thighs.
- "I ache." I mutter, pulling my head into my hands. If I hide my face, It's less embarrassing.
- "What?!" She practically shouts, "You...I thought it was just casual meeting up, hanging out." She whispers. I look up at her and see a big smirk laid across her face.
- "Who's she hanging out with?" Evelyn say's walking out the bathroom in a bikini top and shorts.
- "No one." I say, a little too quickly. Evelyn gives me a look that says she doesn't believe me one bit, and I take it. As long as she doesn't question it further.
- "You're telling me about this later." Kayla whispers, walking away and grabbing her beach bag.
- Seeing them both in beach wear makes me wanna go. But the walk there would be painful..
- "Wait." I say, pushing myself out of bed. "I'm coming." I finally decide.
- Evelyn breaks out in a big smile whereas Kayla laughs as I waddle into the bathroom. I shut the door and flip her off where she can't see me.
- I open my drawer and pull out a bikini, I don't plan on going into the sea. Only to sunbathe and hang out with the other two. I quickly get changed into the bathing suit and me, Evelyn and Kayla head out towards the beach.
- ❀❀❀
- "Since when was it such a long walk?" I ask, feeling my head sweating already.
- "It doesn't help that your legs are sore." Kayla says, loud enough for everyone around us to hear. I shove her with my elbow and give her a glare, feeling my cheeks blushing already from embarrassment. I watch as Evelyn turns around, walking backwards as she raises her eyebrow at the two of us.
- "What was that?" She asks, looking between the two of us.
- Kayla looks at me, shrugging her shoulders. So helpful.
- "I twisted my ankle on my way back last night." I say, giving her the most believable smile I know to do. She turns back around and I let out a physical sigh.
- "Ohhh, that's why you done the little waddle earlier....Kayla couldn't stop laughing, I swear. But, Where were you yesterday anyways?" Evelyn asks, leading the way down the beach steps. Her and her questions are gonna be the death of me, I swear.
- "Someone needed me." I keep my answer short.
- "Who? It was like 7pm..." What the fuck do I say to that?
- "It was someone from one of my classes, you dont know them. They wanted help with something on their assignment." I say, proud of myself for coming up with an excuse so quickly. I wiggle my eyebrows at Kayla, showing my pride.
- "Okay, okay." Is all she says. Thankfully she got distracted by the sea.
- We all find our spots on the beach, creating a half oval with our blankets. Evelyn goes off and straight into the water, which leaves me and Kayla.
- "So...tell me everything!" She beams a soon as Evelyns far away enough.
- "I don't have much to say." I reply, closing my eyes behind my sun shades and laying down.
- "If he left you aching, there's a lot to talk about." She huffs, dropping down on her towel. "Spill it. I won't tell anyone." She holds out her pinky.
- I take it and shake our connected hands.
- "Okay. Where do I start?" I ask, laying my hands beside my body.
- "The start. What did he say on the phone? What did he do when you went? What happened in the room...? And of course what happened when Miss. Canty walked in." She gives me a full list.
- "Wait. How do you know about Miss. Canty?" I say, raising my body up right and staring at her. Her head whipps in my direction.
- "Oh." She stumbles for a minute on her words before telling me. "You seemed unhappy, and I knew where you last were, so I took your phone, copied Sir's number into mine and asked him what he did." She sighs.
- "Oh, alright. That's not that bad. What did he say though?" I ask.
- "I will tell you after you tell me about what happened before this morning." She smirks. Ugh...
- I tell her about everything, from start to finish. About how he pulled me into the room, ripped my shirt, how he fucked me against his desk. Every. Single. Little. Detail. And the look it all brings to Kayla's face makes me want to laugh. Either she's shocked, or concentrated on my story. I also told her about what Miss.Canty said after she barged into the room only a minute after me and Zion had cleaned up. Her eyes were bulging at that point.
- After my 5 minute story, she tells me about what he said. And it surprises me with how chill he sounded about it. I put it behind me though.
- ❀❀❀
- I must have fallen asleep as I'm woken up by something hot on my neck. When I pull myself up, I'm welcomed by a fat ass dog. I mean that in the best way possible.
- "Hello there! Who are you, then?" I ask him, giving the usual baby voice every girl I've ever known to speak when they come into contact with a dog.
- He breathes into my face, his slobber slopping onto my leg. I would be disgusted, but I can't when the dog is so fucking cute.
- I look at his name tag to see if there's a number, but see a pair of feet come to stand beside the dog's body.
- "Sorry. He's a bit excited to be back at the beach." I hear the man say. I look up, being familiar with the voice and a smile automatically spreads across my face. I try to wipe it away, but fail miserably.
- "It's okay. He's cute enough to forgive." I mutter, giving the dog more attention.
- "Who are you here with?" Zion asks, coming to sit down on the sand.
- "Evelyn and Kayla." I say as the dog comes to lay in between my legs.
- "What's his name?" I ask, stroking his soft fur. Everytime I pull my hand back, it's full of fluff. I want him as mine so much, I'm certain my pupils are in the shape of hearts by now.
- "Harley." We both smile when the dog's head looks at Zion, his ears perked up. I nod my reply before looking off at the water. I spot Evelyn and Kayla walking in the water.
- "Why are you not out there with them?" Zion asks me, bringing his hand to my thigh.
- "I have you to blame for that one. I Barley even made the walk here." I mutter, looking down at where his hand lays on my leg. I feel heat spread from where the centre of his palm sits on my skin. He squeezes my leg, smirking at me.
- We both sat in silence, watching my friends playing in the sea like children.
- Zion's the first to break the silence.
- "Last night, Kayla messaged me." He says.
- "I know, she accidentally spilled out earlier." I reply, turning my head to look back at him.
- "Does anyone know besides her?" He asks, his grip on my leg becoming clammy. I hate how much he cares about this. About whether or not people know.
- "Only her." I smile, even though I don't feel like smiling.
- "Good, good." He nods, removing his hand and wiping it on his swim trunks.
- "Where you going out to swim?" I ask, only now realising what he's wearing.
- "No, it was only for if he splashes me with water while he's in the sea. He's a big dog, meaning a lot of mess." He sighs, looking down at his tank which is covered in muddy sand, making it stick to his skin, showing off his defined muscles.
- I get pulled back by the sound of Kayla and Evelyn running towards us.
- "Oh, Sir." Evelyn says, slowing down as she gets closer.
- "Hello." He says, waving at the two of them. I watch as Kaylas flat face tunes into a full on smirk.
- "Why are you here?" Both Kayla and Evelyn ask at the same time.
- Zion simply points towards the dog in between my legs.
- "He found someone he liked." He mutters, patting Harley's head softly.
- "I see.." Evelyn takes a seat on her beach towel and Kayla follows, doing the same.
- No one speaks for a good couple minutes, all three of us sunbathing while Zion scrolls through his phone. He slips his hand into my hair when no one's looking, and keeps it there, brushing through it now and then.
- I watch Zion as he suddebly stands up, calling Harley over. I get surprised by how well trained the dog is...
- "We will leave you to it then. Sorry for the interruption." He says, nodding his head and waving goodbye.
- "No worries." Evelyn says at the same time Kayla says, "It was no interruption."
- The two of them plop their head back down on their towel, closing their eyes to the sun. I watch Zion as he walks away. He points to something beside me, which I look around only to see my phone. I give him a thumbs up before putting my head down too.
- We spent the rest of the day at the beach, enjoying the sunny day.
