Chapter 11 Welcome Party

  • After attending to my schedule, I spent my free time working in the gym, burning the fats that I gained yesterday with Mariel. My coworkers added me to their group chat, they were very nice and welcoming.
  • “Hello?” I spoke as Candice from the other side of the line called. “Is my dear friend so bored that you finally called me?” It was already seven and the welcome party would start at eight.
  • “I just want to ask if your work is fine?”
  • I started to do my make-up since I can do it on my own. “Hell yeah! It’s totally alright if it wasn’t for their boss.”
  • “Who? Your ex-husba-----”
  • “Well, I don’t know why but I still get irritated whenever I saw him. His face pisses me off, big time.” I exclaimed, trying to calm myself.
  • She giggled. “His face? Like duhh…” Her voice imitated a sharp voice of a child. “Your ex-husband could even impregnate every woman in town, I know that they wouldn’t mind having the child of a billionaire and a very handsome man in the country.” Really? This friend of mine is really something.
  • We talked about things before she ended the call since she’s currently busy. I took a deep breath and resumed what I was doing. I put on some light make-up and red lipstick, making my face desirably innocent with a hint of sexiness.
  • I stood from my chair and looked at the huge box on my bed. Someone sent me a gown to wear earlier paired with black heels. I thought that it was just a simple welcome party but based on the design and brand of the gown, it will not be that simple.
  • When the clock strikes eight, I was already on my way. Driving my car with a sly smirk on my face. The gown perfectly fits. It’s such a daring gown to begin with. My white back was exposed since it’s backless. A tube-like black glittery gown that highlighted my curves. There was a long slit on the right side, exposing my long white legs.
  • Right after I arrived, I parked my car and went in. The event's location is one of the De Villa’s properties, the royal hall. The royal hall is a famous and well-known property that thousands of people tried to get in or rent it, but it was too expensive. Even the royal family of a big continent wasn’t able to persuade the De Villa’s to sell it to them; six times bigger than the price of the largest island.
  • “Good evening madam…”
  • I smiled at the people who are at the huge gate, wearing a black uniform. Sure enough, the event isn’t simple. Heading to the red carpet, the camera flashes from left to right. There were whispers from the photographers; saying that it’s been so long since the De Villa opened the royal hall again, so long that they’ve become ecstatic when they heard the news about it earlier.
  • As soon as I went in, opening the hard wooden door, I saw a lot of people wearing their glamorous suits and gowns. The heck?! Was this supposed to be just a welcome party? Why so expensive looking? I even recognized some businessmen and celebrities.
  • “Look who’s here…” A sarcastic feminine voice catches my attention. I wasn’t able to appreciate the hall since my head started to boil because of this familiar voice.
  • “Athena…” I mumbled, looking at her coldly. “I didn’t know that a despicable woman like you is allowed to enter this hall.” I took a glimpse of her outfit. “This is a royal hall, a slave isn’t welcome.” I added, gaining her frustrated looks.
  • She’s wearing a purple fitted gown, although it suits her well, but her black heart wouldn’t match mine. She pointed at me and spat. “How dare you say that to me, you fucking bitch!”
  • “I just did.” I set my bored look at her as if I wasn’t affected. Such a scandalous woman as always.
  • “Oh yeah? Then how about I tell you that I once slept with your ex-husband?”
  • “What if I tell you that I don’t care? You can keep him for yourself if you like.” I shrugged my shoulders, not minding her words at all.
  • Her sharp brown eyes were like daggers. “You’re a slut! Your miscarriage serves you right bi------”
  • “What did you say?!” Miscarriage? Why did she say it? It was kept as a secret by my family and friends. The pain automatically came back.
  • She gave me a disgusting smirk and went near me. “God forbid you to have children, that’s why you lost those little bitches-------”
  • Her head tilted when my palm instantly slapped her cheeks, making it slightly red. “How dare-------you bitch!” I gave her another one to be fair. A resounding two slaps weren’t even enough to shut her mouth.
  • She was about to attack me when she suddenly stopped. Her face displayed fear. “Mr. D-De Villa…” She stammered.
  • “What is Miss Florence doing?” His dark cold voice could make you tremble, but not for me.
  • Athena was obviously shaking when she spoke. “Nothing Mr. Black, I’ll be heading out now.”
  • “Good. The door is right next to you.” As always, he’s still merciless. She went out knowing that she had offended a human beast.
  • “What are you doing?!” I spat when he shamelessly snaked his hand around my waist and held me near him. “Business,” he plainly answered before walking to the people inside.
  • I struggled but to no avail. His grip was tight that I thought my waist would break. What’s this guy’s problem? “Release me!”
  • “What did that woman say?” He asked instead, just good for me to hear. I looked away and stopped making the situation more difficult. “That you fucked each other.”
  • He chuckled. “And?”
  • I sat down next to him. Some people are looking at us, whispering things. “What else? Of course, you both enjoyed it.” My voice was calm, but my stomach isn’t. Such a disgusting past shouldn’t be discussed.
  • His gray seductive eyes were pinned to me. How irritating. “I don’t even know that woman, how can I do that?”
  • "Then fuck others. I don’t care, okay?" I sipped the glass of wine next to me. A trail of sweetness marked my lips. I shifted my gaze to him.
  • He laughed softly and leaned on the chair, still not releasing my waist from his tight grip. "You're not supposed to drink wine. A glass of orange juice is better," he said, as if normal ex-partners should still care about each other's environment.
  • "Why do you care?"
  • He stopped and tilted his head, staring at me blankly. "You answer why."
