Chapter 7 Forced kiss

  • Isobel POV
  • I wake up with a start, grabbing the quilt tightly in my hold.
  • Before I open my eyes, I saw him smirking at me, his hand closed tightly around my jaw, a smirk plastered on his lips as he strangled me. But before he could kill me, I was saved by my hero... Someone who stands up for me
  • Sucking in a deep breath, I grab my glasses from the bedside and thrust them into my eyes, my toom comes into view and I sit upright on the bed, placing my hand on my chest to ease through the loud slamming of my heart.
  • Sliding down from the bed, I grab the only family portrait of my family on my reading table.
  • My parents died six years ago when I was twelve years ago.
  • They'd been killed when they went camping in the forest.
  • They said they'd been killed by a kind of animal, judging by the numerous bruises, animal's bite, and claws on their bodies.
  • I sigh.
  • Maybe only if they are here, they'd tell me how to get out of this mess that I am in.
  • Javier POV
  • "What do you think you did?"
  • I sit on the bed, glaring at Jake who sits a few spaces away from me on the sofa in my room.
  • Jake wraps his arms around his midriff, humming softly to whatever it's, and looking anywhere but at me, not because he's scared, but because he knows that's what I hate most.
  • "What's the meaning of that prank you played yesterday?"
  • "I didn't play any prank," Jake says softly, finally looking up at me.
  • Goodness, I hate his audacity, and I hate the look in his eyes.
  • How dare he?!
  • "Have you no idea what you did?"
  • I try to keep my voice low, trying to restrain myself from yelling at him.
  • I ball my hand into a fist, my teeth grit together.
  • I don't care what he has with that pathetic human, but he could let it wait until I'm done with her.
  • This is a deal between her, me, and the moon goddess.
  • Jake might be my friend, in fact, the closest to me among my other two friends; Eric and Liam, but I won't take it lightly even if my sister tries to stop me from making that pathetic human pays.
  • I don't give a damn even if Jake is the next Beta for the pack.
  • He has no right.
  • "I stopped an Alpha from killing a human," he says with a shrug, lifting his gaze away from me.
  • "From killing a human?" I chuckle. "This is not up to you to decide!"
  • "I won't watch you kill an innocent human being just for pleasure."
  • "Just for pleasure, you said..." I lean up, charging toward Jake, but two strong pairs of hands wrap tightly around my shoulder.
  • How dare he. He's not the one who's being mated to one pathetic weak human.
  • Damn them!
  • I still remember her baritone voice when she was making the prophecy. I remember her soulless eyes that sparked even without the irises.
  • She fucking placed a curse on my Pack, and despite that...despite that...
  • No! I won't be the one to ruin this pack. I won't let that spellcaster's curse come to pass just because of one pathetic human.
  • I'd rather stay mateless than accept that stupid human for my mate.
  • "Calm down, Javier." Liam groans, tightening his hold on me. "And you, Jake..."
  • "Why?" I breathe out. "Why were you so concerned about her? No! I'm not ready to hear a stupid sob story just because she's a mere human."
  • "What if she's anyone related to you?"
  • "And she's not related to anyone," Eric chirps in. "C'mon, Jake, it's her fault for being just a human."
  • "Why can't she stand up for herself?" Liam says.
  • I sigh, jerking my hand away from them.
  • Damn them! Damn every one of them. Were they not there when she was placing a curse on this pack? Or are they the ones who's been forsaken by the moon goddess?
  • How dare they all!
  • Not taking a last glance at Jake or anyone, I saunter outside.
  • Why can't I live like a normal wolf, get mated to a normal wolf, and get to become the next Alpha in peace?
  • Why's the moon goddess so bent on destroying me and my pack?
  • I run a frustrated hand through my hair, my other hand dips inside my pocket and I angrily kick some pebbles off the floor.
  • I just want to vent my anger on someone. Take it all out on someone.
  • Even though I'm not ready to accept her as my mate, I still felt a pang of jealousy there when Jake defended her.
  • Of course...it's quite unfortunate that I'm still attracted to her just because she's my mate.
  • I walk down the street of RAin City, passing the big playground before I stop at HOpe coffee cafe.
  • "I can smell her," Zeke hisses. "Our mate."
  • And I can smell her too; quite sharp and intense... The scent of soap, and the sweet sharp smell of rotten pineapple.
  • I hate the fact that I can still smell her even from afar, I hate the fact that she got me weak just by her smell.
  • Just what was the moon goddess thinking? What exactly is her plan?
  • Pushing the door open, I saunter in, and there she's, draped in a blue shirt and black trousers, her stupid thick round glasses draping over her face, and the stupid black bang burying half of her face.
  • Hissing inwardly, I edge closer to her, stopping to lean against the desk.
  • "Hi!"
  • As soon as she flies her head up, Isobel releases a short gasp, her eyes widen, and she takes a couple of steps back.
  • Tch! Just what I expect.
  • Fear swims in her eyes, and her lips quiver like someone who's suffering from an intense coldness.
  • Alright! And she is supposed to be the Luna of the CREscent moon pack.
  • What a joke that left me wondering how it's ever gonna is possible.
  • Someone like her? Who can't even kill an ant not to talk of leading a troop army in a bloody fight?
  • Balling my hands into fists, I clench my teeth together, mentally calming myself down.
  • Goddess knows that it's taking every ounce of my power to resist myself from snapping her head off her neck...to kill her and dump her body in the forest for the animals to feed on.
  • "Ah..." I breathe out, leveling a glare at Isobel who is still torn between shock and fear. "I'm guessing I'd have to wait a bit more before you can pull yourself together, isn't it?"
  • Isobel bites her lower lip, her shaky hand adjusting the glasses on her eyes.
  • She opens her mouth too to talk, but her heart is doing much of it better...
  • Slamming
  • Thudding
  • And beating loudly I could almost feel myself vibrating.
  • "Wh...what do...you..."
  • "I'll take your order!"
  • A cup slams hard against the desk, and I lift my eyes away from Isobel and settle them on Katrina.
  • Katrina folds her arm across her chest, her steel eyes level with mine, glaring at me so hard as though she'd want nothing else than to have me chuck out of this world.
  • I chuckle. Well, that seems more like her. A girl who could kill an animal in the dead of the night and chew up its heart.
  • "No," I grin. "I want her to attend to me."
  • I nudge my head toward Isobel who let out a short squeal.
  • And why would someone like Katrina stay with her? A human and a vampire?
  • Why? To kill her when it's time or she's being loyal?
  • "I said..."
  • "No," Isobel cuts in, her voice small, almost inaudible. "I'll... I'll attend to him." She turns to me, blinking her eyes under the thick round glasses she wears.
  • "What...do you..."
  • "I changed my mind," I scowl. "I'd like to use the restroom."
  • "Then find your damn way up to the restroom, can't you?"
  • Isobel grabs Katrina's hand, squeezing it softly.
  • Alright! I hate this girl's gut, and if she thinks that I was joking earlier, then she could dare me more.
  • "I'll...I'll do it," Isobel says. "Please, Rina...let me..."
  • "Are you sure you're going to be fine?"
  • Katrina says not looking away from me.
  • "Hmm..."
  • Giving me a last glare, Katrina pats Isobel softly, flashing her a smile.
  • Tch! So much drama for wanting to take me to the restroom.
  • I follow Isobel up the stairs.
  • "You must be close, aren't you?"
  • I fall in step with Isobel as soon we land on the smooth marble floor.
  • Isobel squeaks, flinching like someone who's been electrocuted.
  • Yeah! I know, so much for my future Luna.
  • "I..."
  • Cutting her off, I grab her arm and slam her back against the wall, earning a painful moan from her.
  • Not claiming her doesn't mean I reject her. No!, I'm just making her pay for being my mate. I'm sending a message to the moon goddess for mating me with no one but a pathetic human.
  • She's still mine, mine to toy with.
  • I lean closer, tasting her breath. My hand slides down to her elbow and I give it a gentle squeeze.
  • She's mine.
  • "What are you doing?" Zeke hisses, "you're not claiming her, are you? "
  • "No," I chuckle.
  • I let my eyes dart from her nose down to her lips, then I lean closer, covering her mouth with mine.
