Chapter 1 A new pray
- Javier POV
- I stand by the door, checking out my image in the small tiny mirror on the door.
- It's taking every ounce of my power to resist myself and barge in there to claim my mate.
- I have to look good; that seems to be the priority.
- My mate has to see me differently, and I must put on a good impression on our first meeting.
- Or maybe not our first.
- Flattening the black hair on my head, I lick my lower lip, moisten it, and let it glow.
- I pull open the door and saunter in. A smile grazes my lips and excitement bubble within me as the smell waft through my nose.
- So overwhelming that it almost makes me dizzy; the smell of soap and a sharp sweet smell of rotten pineapple.
- As soon as I close the door behind me, I dance my eyes through the almost deserted class, before my eyes settle on the one girl that's sitting alone in the whole class.
- "Mate?" Zeke, my wolf grumbles inside me.
- I could bet he's thinking what I'm thinking too.
- She could not be our mate, could she? Yet, the sweet, appealing smell is oozing from her.
- I scoff, a frown latching on my face as I glare at the little thing that sits three seats away from me, quite oblivious that she's got herself a company she'd rather not have.
- "Don't tell me..." Zeke chuckle
- I recognize a human when I see one, and I know how unwanted they are among the pack and how unpopular they're to me especially.
- "A human!" Zeke sounds outraged, I could almost feel him wanting to leap out of me and tear her apart.
- That's one of the factors we both possess. We couldn't have clicked so well if we have many disagreements. Zeke hates humans as much as I do.
- "Not our mate, is she, Javi?"
- "I can't believe it too,"
- The girl looks up and our gaze met. For the first time in my life, I appreciate my friends not being here with me.
- Right! It's bad enough with a human being my mate, but a nerdy one at that.
- "Hey... Hi" she stutters, her lips quivering nervously, and her eyes twitch.
- In my five years of being in this school, this is the first time I'll be seeing someone as ugly as her.
- And here I'm, thinking that her scent smell sweet and appealing.
- Nervously, she twitches in her seat, tilting her thick round spectacle up her face.
- Just what the hell is the moon goddess thinking? Mating me up with a human.
- My mate stood up and picked her book on the table, she detach herself between the seat and desk and stumble forward.
- I smirk, angle toward her, and wrap my arms around my chest.
- "Hi, I am Javier,"
- "No! We're not going to accept her!" Zeke growl. "Let me take over you asshole!"
- Ignoring Zeke, my eyes move down to her name tag; Isobel Anderson.
- And she's even in my grade.
- What a lame name.
- Her eyes widen, probably because I'd just talked to her. Isobel licks her lower lip nervously, looking anywhere but at me. Her face, now turning a brighter shade of red, her ears reddening and her heart thud so hard I could almost feel myself vibrating.
- Yeah! I expect more of this reaction from my mate, which unfortunately happens to be her.
- "I... I am.."
- "Isobel!" I cut her off, nudging my head toward her chest.
- If Isobel was blushing before, then it's nothing to what her face looks like now.
- On a normal day, I will never have to take a second glance at this girl before me, but here I am, standing before her, and almost having a normal conversation with her.
- I scoff, unwrap my arms from my chest, and lean forward.
- Isobel steps back, and I take another step forward.
- Coward!
- I'd rather stay mateless than accept this feeble human as my mate.
- Like a flash, my hand wrapped tight around her neck, shoving her against the wall. The force of which sent her glasses off her face and she let out a short yelp.
- "Javier..." She splutters.
- I smirk. Look at her. Weak! Pathetic!
- I let out a sickening smile. My chest tightens and I feel my blood boiling in anger.
- What's it? How dare she! How could she be my mate?
- My gaze hardens, I tighten my hand around her neck, teeth grit together.
- I don't care what happens to her, all I want now is to get her out of my sight.
- "Javier..." She cough. "Why..."
- Tears roll down her face, but I don't give a damn
- She's the most unwanted being I have ever seen, but I couldn't reject her, nor could I accept her.
- Releasing my hand around her neck, I pull her against my chest, earning a loud short gasp from her.
- Her chest rises and falls against mine. She's scared; I'd just make that happen. She fears me, and I'll make myself the most terrible nightmare in her reality.
- "Javier..."
- "Stop!" I growl.
- Just like I hate seeing her face, her voice is too cool for someone I want to kill.
- Inhaling sharply, the sweet sharp smell of rotten pineapple that now appalls me, I latch my mouth onto her neck.
- "Javier..."
- Isobel wriggles to free herself.
- Ugh! What a shame! What's human power compared with the to-be Alpha of the reigning pack?
- I snake my arms around her waist, pulling her tightly against my body as I graze my teeth on her neck.
- "What are you doing?" Zeke growl.
- "Making her pay," I reply.
- I'll never reject her, nor will I ever accept her, I'll let her pay for being my mate.
- ****
- "Javier, are you sure you're okay?" Jake says, dropping his spoon to stare me directly in the face.
- "Yeah!" I reply. "Just a bit down."
- "You're okay before you left the house this morning!" Rose, my sister says, glaring at me.
- What is it to them? Huh? They've never been mated to a human, are they?
- I drop my fork with a clank on the table. I don't know how I'll be able to eat after knowing my mate to be some despicable weak and pathetic human being.
- The ghost of her smell still lingers in my nose; the smell that I've now grown to hate.
- I sigh, pressing my fingers on my temple softly. Gazing up at the eight pairs of eyes that gaze at me curiously, I manage a faint smile.
- "I am bored," I smirk. "I need to have some fun"
- "Oohhh..." Liam hoots, swiping his hand over his blue hair. "want to go clubbing?"
- "No!" I smirk, for I've just seen someone who'd entertain me now and make my boredom go away.
- Isobel sits just a few seats away from my table, her thick round glasses back to her face, the stupid bang in her forehead hiding half of her face.
- I smile in embarrassment, mentally thinking of how my friends would behave when they get to know that my mate is no other than the girl in a baggy sweatshirt, some silly thick glasses on her face which she bury in a book.
- Just how thick can she be?
- A shame I call it
- "Then what?" Eric calls out.
- "Just wait,"
- My idea of fun differs starting from today, I'd let my friends in on the joke but not now.
- Hissing, I stood from my table and approach hers, pulling out a chair beside her and dumping my ass in it.
- "One interesting book, is it?"
- Isobel jumps, dropping her book and the fork. She blinked rapidly under the round spectacles she wore.
- Right! She'd get some thick eyelashes and mesmerizing golden brown eyes.
- Of course, all those are just a facade, she's still nothing but a human I'd love to toy with
- "Don't you dare touch my friend!"
- I whirl my face to look at the owner of that voice. A girl sits beside Isobel, glaring at me as though she wants nothing but to stick a sword into my stomach.
- "And you are?" I crease my brows.
- "What am I to you?" She fires back.
- I chuckle. Huh! One thick girl she is.
- "If you touch my friend..."
- "What are you going to do?" I smirk. "I love dare, you see."
- My gaze was level with hers, blue to black. Something seems off in her gaze. She doesn't look human, yet she's not a wolf
- My brow raises, what's she then if she's neither?
- "C'mon, Rina," Isobel grabs her elbow, shaking her gaze away from me.
- "What do...what do you want...you want from me, Javier?"
- I mentally cuss myself for finding her voice so cool. No! How dare she make my name rolls freely on her tongue?
- I lean forward, breathing heavily on her plastered neck.
- "And what have you done to me, little nerdy?" I smirk.
- Isobel gulps nervously, she shifts uncomfortably away from me but I grab her elbow and pull her back to me.
- I hate her, and she has to know that. I have to show the moon goddess the mistake she makes for mating me with one pathetic human.
- I slid my hand to her waist, digging my nails into it and earning a deep intake of breath from her.
- "Javier..."
- "You," I say in a singsong tone. "You make me do it, Bel."
- "Listen..."
- "I need a new prey," my nail digs deeper, earning a wince from her.
- No surprise, but her pain kind of brings me peace of mind. "What do you think about being one, Isobel?"
