Chapter 7 The Invitation In Crimson
- The atmosphere at Gore Academy was different. It wasn't simply the odd mist that usually floated around the courtyard or the typical coolness that clung to the stone walls. No, this was not like that. The earth was tense. Even in its endless gloom, the sky appeared darker than normal.
- As they moved through the hallways, their eyes alert, their voices hushed, the students said quietly. All had heard the scream from the previous night. And the blood was visible to all.
- Evana hardly slept at all. She had spent most of the night sitting outside her window, holding her dagger's handle and listening for any movement. She kept thinking about what she had seen yesterday: students being ripped apart, vampire faces showing panic, and an unexplained breaking of the walls.
