• Kael’s plan for tomorrow didn't happen.
• Emily was three hours into her shift when the ambulance bay doors slammed open. A call came in that didn't match the dispatcher's report.
• A paramedic wheeled in a gurney quickly. "Unknown male, mid-thirties. Found unconscious behind a warehouse on Fifth," he reported. "No visible trauma, but his fever is 104 and climbing. His heart rate is erratic. We couldn't get an IV line in—his veins kept moving. It was like his body was fighting the needle."
