• He found her on the hospital's rooftop access deck. It was a narrow strip of concrete behind a hidden door. Most staff didn't know it existed; it was officially for maintenance, but unofficially, it was where people went to get a few minutes of fresh air between shifts. Emily was already there, leaning against the railing and watching the city lights under a pre-dawn sky.
