Chapter 6 An Unexpected Journey

  • After almost four weeks, Chelsea had already caught up with all the paperwork, she had completely organized her entire office, she had saved in alphabetical order every folder of accounts, every contract, she was a geek of the organization and she had left it reflected in her space. She had not only organized, she had also worked hard to be the best assistant there could be, she had determined very firmly that she would not give any excuse to the scoundrel Steve to call her out, point at her negatively or threaten to expel her from the company, she was forced to resort to all the existing relaxation techniques to control her anger and not give her a bad answer, But he had done it.
  • I already knew that Steve arrived on normal days around thirty minutes late and, on nights when he went partying, he would make his appearance around noon, so, when he arrived, she already had his cup of coffee prepared and hot on her desk along with the time of day where each of his meetings and events were well specified.
  • This, far from mortifying Steve, caused him some amusement, he was aware of why she did all those things, he still hadn't forgotten the face she made that day when she was spying on him while he was with Larissa. Without having proposed it, they had a game full of adrenaline, at least for him, that constant tug and pull that was between the two of them the only thing he had achieved was that he wanted her more, he was sure that if he were to make her his again he could show her that everything he was doing was nothing more than a role he was playing, A mask of the offended girl because, deep down, she was dying to be with him.
  • Luckily for both of them, each other's thoughts were kept secret inside their heads, otherwise they would hate each other more, or, rather, pretend to do so. They had no idea how much they were dying to get back together, to enjoy each other once again, but human beings tend to deny themselves the things they want very often.
  • Just Tuesday of that week, Chelsea is amazed when she found Steve in his office, he had arrived on time, that's not something she could see every day. He hurried as fast as he could, and about seven minutes later he was handing it to him at the same time as Hugh made his entrance.
  • "It's good that I'm both here," unlike her son, Chelsea felt a great attachment to Hugh, he was a man to whom the money, riches and luxuries he possessed had not changed him, he continued to be as humble as in his beginnings, not to mention how well he always treated her. You remember that in two days is the meeting with the Montreal executives, right? Chelsea had been jotting it down and highlighting it in her diary for several days, but, as usual, Steve didn't even pay attention to his commitments until they were very close.
  • "Yes, Dad, of course," she lied, causing Chelsea to roll her eyes because she knew he had no idea what her father was talking about.
  • "Well, that's perfect, they'll be out in two days.
  • "Are they going out?" She asked.
  • "Yes, of course, you're his assistant and Steve will be there all the time from one meeting to another, he won't have time for practically anything, he'll need your help.
  • As soon as she hears his words, Chelsea freezes in place. Up until that moment, Steve hadn't mentioned anything about the trip, he didn't know that he would have to leave the country, of course how could he do it if he didn't even know about it until a few seconds ago? She couldn't refuse, this was part of her job, but her head was about to explode, she hadn't prepared anything at all, and her organization-obsessed part was killing her, not to mention that she didn't want to spend twenty-four hours straight next to Steve's cretin, eight hours in the company was enough for her to hate him more and more, So, several days would be torture.
  • "Is there a problem, Chelsea?" Steve asked her very amused, he imagined everything she must be thinking and that gave him satisfaction in addition to the fact that he would have more quality time to be able to be with her again.
  • "No, none, Mr. Bullock.
  • "You look a little upset. I have insisted.
  • "No, it's just that I hadn't considered that I would have to travel, but that's okay, I'll be ready
  • "Perfect, then, I know Steve will be in very good hands, I've already been told you've been the best assistant we've had in a long time," and, winking at him, walked out.
  • "So, are you ready?" He asked, smiling.
  • "I'm always ready," she replied.
  • "We'll see, we'll leave tomorrow afternoon."
  • "Tomorrow?" The meetings don't start until Thursday—his eyes were wide open, he'd have a lot less time to organize than he'd thought.
  • "Yes, but you're not waiting for us to arrive at those meetings with our bags and just arrived at the airport, right?" "He knew that all this news had gotten her out of the way and that was making her day." "Don't worry, I'll take care of you," she glared at him, but didn't say anything else, she left her office and went back to do her work.
  • Not without a lot of work, several coffees, and a bit of a headache, Chelsea managed to get everything under control before taking that private jet. He had mentally prepared himself to spend two full days at the side of that jerk, starting with the plane. Luckily for them, they arrived too tired and went straight to their rooms, which, by the way, were continuous as were their offices in the company.
  • After resting, the two prepared for dinner with which they would be welcomed by the French brothers, André and Chris Dapeud. Steve went down to the restaurant first to have a drink, being a woman, it must have taken forever. But to his surprise, she arrived a minute after him, she was really excessively punctual.
  • When Steve saw her, his jaw almost completely fell out of his face, this wasn't deliberate, Chelsea knew that those meetings with the executives were something important and very serious, she had to be dressed appropriately for the situation but, if Steve was playing with her, she could do the same to him too, so why not be the sexy assistant? She had made sure to pack elegant clothes, but that were sensual at the same time starting with the red dress she was wearing molded to the shape of her body, highlighting every curve and matching perfectly with her hair making her stand out and, not to mention the opening she had in the back of her thighs, she was really beautiful and that did not go unnoticed by Steve's eyes.
  • "Good evening, Mr. Bullock," she said, holding out her glass of wine and smiling at his reaction, this time, she was ahead of the game.
  • "Good morning, Miss Smith," he made no remark to her, but, he knew that he had fatally lost this assault.
  • Already in the meeting, the least he could do was concentrate on what the future investors of the company were saying, it was impossible for him, his eyes did not leave Chelsea and that red dress, the dress of revenge. Until that moment, he had not noticed the freckles on both her cheek and her back, something that was very sensual to him, her skin looked like porcelain, her hips were a delicacy and not to mention her legs. If she walked, his eyes followed her anywhere, but he wasn't the only one who had noticed her, the other men present had also noticed her beauty. In a short break, several approached him and the conversations began.
  • "Where did you get that girl?" With an assistant like that, I don't care if she doesn't do the job well," Chris Dapeud told her.
  • "And what makes you think she doesn't do her job well?"
  • "Oh, come on, it's impossible for me to be so damn sexy to have a good brain, it's like that for women, ugly women are smart and beautiful women just aren't.
  • —Well, you're wrong, she's the best assistant I've ever had in my life and, if you want to do business with Bullock & Company, you limit yourself to talking about work and eliminate sexist comments like that from your repertoire. The man didn't say anything else, he just left quietly giving Steve space to realize that without a doubt, Chelsea was much more than he had noticed, if up to that moment he wanted her, now he did twice as much, he had to be with her again, even if it was the last thing he did. All this time in the company he thought he was ahead, he had no idea that she was letting him think he was winning.
  • That night they each went back to their room, Steve didn't dare to disturb her, something inside him had changed, he wanted to get closer to her and he knew that, to achieve it, he would have to be more delicate. For her part, she had a feeling of victory inside her, she had noticed the way in which Steve could not take his eyes off her for a single moment, but that had only made the desire for him that she had tried so hard to hide, appear with all her strength. Neither of them said a word, they just nodded their heads and went into their rooms.
