Chapter 15 What Are You Doing?

  • Caitlin was shocked. Max was a bossy and obsessive man who would do anything he wanted without caring about anyone else’s feelings. She knew about this way back then. Even though attracting him was a part of her plan, she didn’t expect to expose herself as the person five years back so quickly.
  • If her burn scars were to be revealed before Max, it would be hard for her to exact her vengeance. All the pain she had felt these years would have been for nothing. At the thought of this, Caitlin suddenly felt a surge of strength welling up in her. She quickly looked up and headbutted Max’s nose.
  • As a sensation of pain hit Max, he quickly let Caitlin go, but his nose was already bleeding. A moment later, he glared with his phoenix eyes at Caitlin venomously. How dare she do me like this? “You’re playing hard to get, but that’s nothing to me, Caitlin. Why are you here, and who are you?”
  • Even though Max reflexively took two steps back out of pain, and even though his nose was bleeding, that didn’t take away from the bossiness and viciousness he was radiating.
  • Caitlin could feel her heart pounding. Oh god, my head hurts! Is his nose made of steel? I smashed his weakest spot, and he could still threaten me that way. I knew he’s heartless!
  • Caitlin quickly straightened her pajamas and took one step back as she looked at him in high alert. Coldly, she said, “President Cooper, you came to my house and tried to assault me. And now you’re interrogating me? What makes you think you can treat me this way, President Cooper? Even if we are collaborating with you, your girlfriend has humiliated me publicly, and you came to my abode to do the same thing. Do you think our group is easy prey? If you keep this up, President Cooper, don’t blame me for dragging your company into this. We’ll have to go to the police station.”
  • As he looked at her roaring angrily and the flames that were burning in her eyes, it only served to beautify her and make her look more like the one he remembered. Max’s gaze darkened, but he didn’t force Caitlin to give him an answer anymore. There was nothing that could escape him if he wanted to know about it, so sooner or later, he would expose the woman before him. “You’d better be the person you say you are, Caitlin, or I would have you know what happens to those who tried to trick me.”
  • “Are you threatening me, President Cooper? Oh, I am so scared. If you don’t wish to work with us, I’ll need you to call our president. If you don’t like me, you can ask him to have a designer switch. You don’t have to bully a weak woman like me. That’ll just make me feel disgusted.” Caitlin looked at him coldly.
  • Max glared at her as he tried to glean something from her soul. However, Caitlin was a master of deception, for she glared back at him, as if he had done something evil.
  • The moments of staring competition was nothing less than a fight between warriors. Caitlin could feel sweat pouring out from her back. Even though she had trained overseas for five years, her vibe still lost out to the man before her.
  • Right when Caitlin was about to give in, someone screamed shrilly, “What are you doing?”
  • Eliza had never expected to see Max here. When she saw him and Caitlin glaring at each other, that unnerved her, so she screamed.
  • Caitlin had never been more thankful for Eliza’s arrival. She quickly shifted her gaze and looked coldly at Eliza. “Ah, Miss Pierce. Are you here to take President Cooper back? Or are you going to double-team me and torture me here? I am confused. Did I offend any of you? You guys keep on finding trouble with me,” Caitlin said coldly.
  • Max frowned as he listened to her. A moment later, he quickly wiped his nose and stood somewhere else, which was right beside Caitlin. “Why are you here?” he asked indifferently.
  • Eliza could feel a sense of crisis when she saw them standing together. That feeling was the same one she had when she saw Caitlin standing together with Max five years ago.
  • Even though a flame of fury and jealousy was burning in her heart, she pushed it down when she noticed Max’s cold and impatient look. Eliza said humbly, “I had someone look up at Miss Catherine’s abode, and I am here to apologize to her. I know I was rash, so I am really sorry for that. Miss Catherine, please forgive my rude attitude. I humbly beseech you to come back to the company to assume your position.”
  • Eliza tried to show how pitiful and compromising she was. If Max can see my sincerity, he wouldn’t blame me even if she doesn’t want to go back, right?
  • At the thought of that, Eliza kneeled before her, and at this moment, a gleam of reflected light made Caitlin squint.
