Chapter 1 Dianne

• *Dianne's POV*
• I'm Dianne Blackwood, and I was supposed to be the future Alpha of Nightfall Pack. The first female Alpha ever. Nightfall Pack was a mini pack, still under the sovereign of The Shadowfang Royal Pack - led by the Alpha King
• Under his sovereign were five mini packs. He resides in the Grand Council Hall, where all Pack Alphas must swear loyalty to him.
• Ours had the highest hierarchy- under the governance of my father, Alpha Braden.
• And I was his sole and only heir, I was his only child, and I had trained since birth to take over as the Alpha, secretly.
• No one knew of this, not any of his trusted warriors or beta or gamma.
• Why was this?
• ShadowFang is a pack where females were looked down upon, we weren't allowed to raise our heads when the Warriors walked by. We weren't allowed to eat at the same table as the men.
• Women were born to serve the men who should lead the pack.
• Irrespective of what bloodline you came from- whether your father was a Warrior, or an Alpha or Beta, whether or not you were an omega - we were all treated the same- slaves.
• Except for my father, the Alpha was strongly against it- but discreetly. These were the orders of the Royal Alpha king, no one was allowed to disobey his orders.
• But my father did anyway, secretly, though many pack members were against it, and because of this, most wished for my father's downfall.
• But the women supported him. Women weren't allowed in high places like the men, but we were treated equally and not like slaves.
• And so, my father trained me secretly to take over from him after he must have stepped down. Many had thought "He has no rightful heir to take over from him, so his Beta must be in line for the throne" Everyone had thought, but the females dreaded this, Beta Reylis was just like the Alpha king and every other male in the kingdom, they saw women as nothing less than supporters, bed warmers and slaves.
• And he had thought - just like everyone else, he was next in line and he would become the Alpha when my father stepped down.
• But when he found out my father had been secretly training me to become the Alpha, he spiraled out of control.
• Beta Reylis informed everyone of my father's plans, and every member of the pack turned against him, and he was stripped of his title.
• The pack members rejected him as their Alpha. They appointed Reylis as their Alpha and because of the good times and things my dad had done for the pack, they made him the Beta, stripping him of his Alpha title and demoting him.
• Reylis became the Alpha, and my dad, the Beta.
• "When I become Alpha, you don't have to worry; I'll give you the Beta position," Reynolds said to me, currently sitting at the edge of my table in my room.
• Yes, we were that close. But not anymore, he doesn't know that yet. The moment his dad betrayed my father, ridiculed him, and stripped him of his title, he became less of a friend.
• I forced a smile, "Thanks" I gritted my teeth, covering it up with a smile.
• He nodded then stood up. "Do you wanna wrestle with me?" He asked.
• I shrugged, "Not really," I said, looking away.
• I am stronger than he is, I am also stronger than the majority of the males or warriors in this pack, but I couldn't reveal it yet.
• Beta- now Alpha Reylis did find out that my dad had been training me secretly, but he had no idea just how much.
• I was just as strong as my father, even stronger, and my dad was one of the most powerful Alphas ever, which was why we easily became the biggest pack under the ShadowFang pack.
• My dad had plans to strengthen our pack alliances, and also develop us to the point where we could stand alone, not under the Alpha King anymore.
• An insider from the Alpha King's grand hall had secretly tipped it to me that Alpha King Hayden found out about my father's plans to make our pack stand-alone, and I had an idea he was the mastermind behind all these.
• Next month was the Alpha Coronation and we would be receiving various alpha visitors from other packs who would be attending the coronation.
• "The shock on Dad's face and the other Alphas will be hilarious when I crown you as my Beta," Reynolds repeated, a wide grin on his face.
• "Yeah.." I trailed off, going through some documents on my desk.
• I hated this house, this room. It wasn't mine; it belonged to Reynolds until Reylis became the Alpha. My parents and I moved out into their deck- the Beta's deck, and they moved into one that was once ours- the second floor, just above ours. That spot belonged to us. It was the Alpha's abode- my dad's abode. But not anymore, it wasn't ours to live in anymore, Alpha Reylis and his family took it from us, and every other thing that had belonged to my father, and he will pay, he and his son.
• A week before the coronation of a new Alpha. A challenge for leadership could happen. Any of the previous betas or gammas could challenge the alpha that was about to step down for succession.
• If any of the beta or gamma could win, they would become next in line to lead the pack, and their offspring would follow.
• My dad was now the beta, but Alpha King Hayden had forbidden him from being able to challenge the Alpha Reylis position.
• "You lost the right for you or your offspring to ever lead this pack. You did so by going against the rules of the ShadowFang Clan, and thinking you could put a female in such a high rank. You're a disappointment to this pack, and you will be for generations to come." Alpha King Hayden ridiculed my father, in front of the whole pack.
• And so, I said to myself, I will make him pay, together with Alpha Reylis. I will prove to them that a female can lead this pack just well.
• And to do so, and prove to my people that I can. I shall challenge Reynolds after his coronation.
