Chapter 9 Protecting Her
- Luca's POV
- All I did was watch as the reporters swarm all over Sabrina. Her gaze transfixed at a spot and her whole body in shock.
- I glanced at the car that drove past me and with a quick gaze with Blake—My assistant who drove me here, he understood what I meant. To get everything he could on the lady in the car. The one who had just brought panic to Sabrina.
- I didn't want to jeopardize the media the more by stepping out there to pick Sabrina. I clenched my fist hoping she'd steady herself. She was never this weak when she was with me. I didn't know what that black haired bitch might have said to her, but I felt like she could overcome it.
- Blake noticed my tenseness and turned to face me. "Should I go get her, boss?"
- I waved him off with a flick of my wrist dismissing his thought. If anyone was to go out there, it should be me.
- I had her followed the moment she left the mansion in the black sedan. I didn't want to trust anything, not even bodyguards. I knew the public were still onto her since the scandals still hold their claims but I failed to warn her about it.
- She stumbled backward, her legs almost failing her and it looked like she could fall any moment from now. I wouldn't sit here in the car and watch that like it's a fucking variety show.
- I stepped out of the car, walking elegantly to her side. Damn these reporters! The moment I got to her, she slumped, collapsing into my arms.
- "Sabrina?" I called, shaking her gently in my arms but she didn't stir. Her body had gone limb in my arms as it looked like she had vanished away from me—Deep into darkness.
- The click from the cameras intensified, murmurs came in multiple folds from the reporters.
- "Why is he here? Who is he? Is that not the CEO of Luca Airline & Transportation?" They asked a lot of questions but I wasn't ready to give a response to any.
- I swept Sabrina's legs off the ground, carrying her in a bridal style then head back to the car.
- Blake rushed out, opening the car door wide as I gently placed Sabrina in and slid in beside her.
- "Should we head to the hospital, sir?" Blake who had returned to the car asked.
- "No, just drive home and call the doctor" I instructed and he nods.
- My eyes went to Sabrina, my gaze lingering on her long lashes as I watched her closed eyes. My gaze went down to her lips and, crazy how I want my lips to crash into those lips even while she's unconscious.
- I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear urging Blake to drive faster.
- Taking her to a hospital wasn't safe, there are eyes everywhere, watching her, wanting to drag her down like they've been waiting for this for a very long time.
- The car pulled up in front of the mansion and I alighted, with Sabrina in my arms. The doctor was already outside waiting for our arrival.
- I took her into my bedroom, placing her on the bed. The doctor checked up on her and gave some treatments. He stood up when he was done.
- "She should be awake after a good rest. She was too shocked at the moment of the incident that she couldn't breathe" The doctor said and I heaved a sigh, darting my cold gaze to Sabrina.
- The hell was so shocking that made her almost lose her life?
- "You can take your leave, Doc" I dismissed him.
- He bowed and exited the room. I sat down beside Sabrina, staring at her. Had she been this weak all throughout the two years I was gone? Did she love Haynes so much that she lost all the will to fight back?
- I couldn't find the answer but one thing was certain. She needs me—To protect her and I would stop at nothing to do exactly that.
- I sat there staring at her. Seconds passed, minutes passed and maybe even hours. I watched as she groaned in her sleep and then I would pat her hair and whisper to her that it's okay.
- My phone started pinging with notifications, I opened it up to take a look at what the pressing matter was. I tightened my hands around my phone, clenching my teeth. Haynes that bastard! He really did create one more scandal.
- The kissing photos—He had released them. And coupled with what happened earlier today, the whole public thinks I'm having an illegal affair with Sabrina Ventimiglia.
- My phone pinged with a message from Blake revealing that the lady from earlier was Camilla—Haynes new girlfriend.
- I glanced back at Sabrina. The cunning bitch must have said something to torment her. And she thinks she will get away with it? Not when Sabrina is willing to trust me to take revenge for her.
- I have to take care of all these mess and put them all in their places. I caressed Sabrina's forehead one last time and stood up from the bed heading out but then she grabbed my hand. I spun around and found her lashes fluttering open, her golden brown eyes getting filled with tears.
- Looks like she had adopted a bad habit of never stopping to cry. She held my hand tightly and muttered those words.
- "Don't...Don't leave me, Luca" She muffled.
- She's scared—Scared of the world and everything, but not me. I would have loved to, but if I really do want her to stop crying and getting hurt, then I have to take care of the mess Haynes had created for her first.
- "I will be back, Sabrina. You will be fine" I tried making her let go of her hand, but she didn't. Instead, tears flowed more freely.
- "Please....Don't leave me" She begged again, this time, a voice I couldn't resist.
- I sink into the bed beside her, placing her head on my chest as I hugged her. She hugged me back, tearing up more loudly.
- Right now, she needs me. Desperate to have me by her side and at the moment, I want to forget all that had transpired between us and focus on protecting her.
- I have plans for her, just like Haynes did. But right now, protecting her from all fucking harm and breakdown is my priority.
