Chapter 8 World Crashing
- Sabrina's POV
- I must be going crazy to tell Luca to get married to me this week. It would look like I was pushing things ahead of how they were supposed to be.
- "Uhm. We will talk about this later, thanks for the meal" I said to Luca and rushed out of the dining area back to the room they had given to me.
- I sat on the bed and stares at the message Haynes has sent me earlier.
- "I have Camilla sleeping peacefully by my side right now Sabrina. I plan on living a happy life with her away from you, so don't cause me trouble"
- He texted me to let me know his ex is back, now by his side. In his bed. I shouldn't care but I couldn't stop thinking about it. He divorced me for Camilla and now dates to threaten me.
- After I clear my name, I will make sure Haynes suffer. Happy life? He doesn't deserve anything like that. He cheated on me, divorced me and even had to bring his ex back to take my place.
- I put a call across to Didi, my personal assistant.
- The moment she picked up, I asked, "How's things Didi?"
- "I'm afraid it's still the same, Everyone is making a fuss about withdrawal. They are going to abandon us ma'am" she said and I sighed.
- "I will be there tomorrow to talk to them, schedule a meeting, I promise to handle this" I said, reassuring her.
- She's the one handling everything in my stead right now, I couldn't because I had to deal with Haynes but tomorrow, I have to be at S-Gem Apparel and Co.—My company needs me.
- **
- I had asked Didi to bring me some work clothes and other necessities. I stood in front of the mirror checking my black fitted gown out, I took a deep breath then walked out of the room with my handbag.
- My gaze caught Luca standing by the cabinet as his broad muscular arms rested on the table. He was shirtless. Gawd! That made me breathless.
- I stared from his face down to his abs and then my eyes landed on his Adam's apple which was tucked in a tight jeans. It made me gulp as I quickly averted my gaze back to his face.
- He smirked as he had caught me staring.
- "Hey" I found my words. He walked closer while I stepped back blinking rapidly.
- "Leaving already?" He asked, still approaching me. I stepped back until the kitchen table pressed against my back. He closed in on the gap between us, placing his hands on either side of me.
- I couldn't help but inhale the scent that almost made me go crazy, his dark ocean eyes locked with mine as he stared deep into my soul.
- "Breakfast?" He asked.
- "Don't think I can wait" I replied, our gaze still locked onto each other. His gaze sent shivers down my spine, and the way his breath fanned against my neck sent cold tingles down my whole body.
- His gaze went from my eyes down to my lips and for a split second, images of yesterday's kiss rushed in.
- I quickly pushed him away, standing miles away from him.
- "Thanks for letting me stay here for the night, contact me when you fix a date to finalize our agreement, I will move in then" I said, dropped my card and walked out.
- I moved out and the realization struck me—this wasn't Haynes house and I have no car here. I sighed annoyingly at the though of taking a bus to work.
- Just then, a middle-aged man emerged from the back quarters of the mansion and clicked the button on the car key he had with him. The sleek black car beeped open and the man smiled.
- "Good morning Miss. Sabrina, I'm Ren, the butler of this mansion" he introduced and I nodded.
- "The boss had instructed me to drive you to your workplace" Butler Ren said and I smiled.
- Bless Luca. I would have declined but I needed a ride so badly right now.
- Butler Ren drove me to work and I thanked him the moment he dropped me off. I watched as he turned the car around and left while I made my way into the company.
- Walking through the lobby, someone bumped into me and her purse fell.
- "Ohh...I'm sorry" I said as I bent to pick the purse up for her. I was sure it wasn't my fault, but it's something I can't seem to give up, being polite.
- Handing the purse to her, I could see her smirk.
- "Thanks Sabrina" She smirked making me squint. She knew my name and that's weird.
- "You know me?" I asked.
- "Of course" She said, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "I'm Camilla, your ex-husband's new girlfriend" she chuckled.
- My breath hitched as I stared at her. Long black hair, grey eyes, sharp jawline, Rosy red lips. She was beautiful but was that all it takes for Haynes to choose her over me?
- "Oh I see. You are Camilla" I said, hiding the pain in my voice.
- "Are you also here to torment me??" I chuckled bitterly. I didn't need to ask, It was obvious.
- "Torment?? Hell no! I came to order from your company, I've always done" she said and moved closer to me, gripping the collar of my gown gently as she dusted unseen speck of dust off it.
- "Rocy. Ring a bell? I spent practically all my life fortune on your company. I thought that was the only thing I could do for your pathetic life, so don't cross a line" Camilla gave a soft smile—sweet yet dripping with poison.
- "What??" That was all I could utter because I could barely believe my ears. She was here to threaten me, just like Haynes had done last night.
- "Why do you think you still have this company to call yours? Because I told Haynes not to take it from you, so get a grip!" She added, pushing me gently away from her.
- "I hope I don't get to see you around, Miss Sabrina" she smirked and walked out.
- Something was off. She said it as though she was in this together with Haynes. No!
- I dashed after her as she almost slid into her car, my hand spinning her around.
- "You told Haynes not to take it from me?? What does that mean??" I asked, panic surging through my voice.
- "You heard it right. Oh! You didn't know. I never broke up with Haynes. We were together all throughout your two years of marriage. It's called distant relationship, Sabrina" she smirked and slipped into her car.
- I froze on the spot, tears trickling down my face. My vision blurred with tears I couldn't stop.
- The whole world tilted in front of me and all I could hear was the voices of the reporters who swarmed in out of nowhere with their flashes.
- My world crashed. Over and over again.
- Moments later, darkness took over and I slumped but into someone's strong arms.
