Chapter 6 Brought To His Home

  • Luca's POV
  • I hadn't expected her to accept that quickly but then again, I haven't given a choice to think about it.
  • She accepted—and that's all that matters.
  • I stood there like a fool at a loss for words. I had proposed the marriage but standing there made it looks like I had no plans on what to do after she accepted the offer—or maybe because I had thought Sabrina was more tougher and stubborn than someone who would accept my request on my first day of trying.
  • "It's cool then, we will start making arrangements for everything" I said, sighing in relief.
  • I'm just a step closer to having Sabrina Ventimiglia as mine again. I missed her, everything about her and I was mad at her and myself for losing her.
  • She left me, dumped me but that had only kept me going, the only thing that made me come back as the successful CEO of multiple organizations.
  • "Let me drive you" I suggested and walked to my car, opening the door to the passengers seat for her. A gentlemanly gesture I'd never show anyone except her.
  • "Thanks Luca but I think I will just take a cab" she said, walking away from me but I wasn't going to let her go.
  • Watching her leave right in front of me only brings memories about the past and would always makes me think that I'm losing her yet again.
  • "You don't have a place to go, do you?" I asked. "Your husband just divorced you" I added and even with her back turned to me. I could sense her anger with the way she clutched her bag more tightly into her hand.
  • "Your Mom is in the hospital, I'm sure you don't want to go to the house you've abandoned for years" I said, and she turned to me in shock. Obviously, I know too much than she must have expected.
  • "And your best friend is out of the country, where else do you have to go?" I asked and I could see the amused look on her face.
  • She crossed her hands beneath her boobs and took a step closer to me.
  • "You know too much Mr. McCorkindale. Have you been stalking me?" She asked and I laughed.
  • "Stalking is a bit too far fetched, Miss Sabrina. All I did was dig about the lady I would be marrying" I smiled although it wasn't even funny to me and not to her.
  • "Get in, stay at my place" I said, my voice authoritative.
  • "I'd rather sleep out in the cold" she spat and I chuckled amusingly.
  • I watched as she picked her phone and dialed some few numbers, none of them picked. The only one that picked up ended up disappointing her, I could tell from her looks.
  • "Still saying no?" I asked again.
  • "Shit! Have I ever had a choice?" She muttered angrily before she threw herself into the seat. I chuckled to myself as I moved to the driver's seat and ignited the car.
  • I knew Sabrina, she was damn stubborn and getting her to do people's will was never her thing. It made me wonder—How the hell was Haynes able to walk all over her. The only reasonable conclusion I could come to was that she was blinded by love. Love?
  • It hurts me to think about that but she really did loved Haynes.
  • **
  • The car halted in front of the mansion and glancing at Sabrina's face which was lost on the building. I could tell she was marvelled at how huge the mansion was.
  • "We are here" I said and she cleared her throat.
  • "You can make yourself feel comfortable in here. Forget about all the troubles of today and take some rest" I said and I sincerely meant that.
  • "Thank you Luca" she said and I only hummed before I got off the car. She got off too and just as I walked in expecting her to follow behind, I realized she haven't taken a step away from the car. I turned, raising a brow as I wondered what was wrong.
  • "Why are you helping me Luca?" She asked and I chuckled. She already agreed to taking my help and getting into a marriage with me but it looked like she's still having doubts about it.
  • "I mean...you could easily get any girl you want to do your bidding, why me?" She asked and I could see it clearly in her eyes—fear....panic.
  • She was becoming afraid of me, like I was intending to hurt her. It made me chuckle.
  • "You know better the reason why I chose you over any other girl" I smirked and walked into the house.
  • I took my jacket off and threw it to the sofa. Claire hurried over and welcomed me. Her brows furrowed with curiosity when she saw Sabrina walk in.
  • "Quickly prepare dinner Claire" I instructed.
  • "Yes, Mr. McCorkindale" she hurried into the kitchen.
  • My gaze went round the room until it landed on Evelyn, she bowed in greetings when our eyes met.
  • "Show her to the best room available and prepare a bath for her, show her to the dining table afterwards" I said, my head nudging at Sabrina who was still taking the whole decor in.
  • Evelyn nodded and I walked upstairs leaving Sabrina in her care.
  • Evelyn and Claire—The two maids I live with.
  • **
  • The dining table was set. I sat down in a casual T-shirt and a denim. Sabrina wore an oversized pajamas which I presume belonged to Evelyn. Pasta with steak.
  • It wasn't bad for dinner.
  • I watched Sabrina as she ate and cut the steak gracefully. She knew I was staring and I could tell she was uncomfortable with my glare but I wasn't ready to back down.
  • Her phone pinged and she took a glance at it. A moment later, she dropped the phone and the fork angrily. Hell! That scared me.
  • She looked up at me, her gaze dripping with venom.
  • "When are we getting married?" What? That was unexpected.
  • "What??" I exclaimed. "You look so eager to get married to me" I teased and she gulped.
  • "I thought that was a necessary question" she defended.
  • "Well, when do you want us to get married?" I asked.
  • "This week?" She said and I mouthed a wow.
  • Sabrina is not the type who would want to be submissive to me, and she's also not the type that would be so eager to get married to me, not the Sabrina that doesn't even want me around her.
  • Something just triggered her. The message she received a moment earlier.
  • Haynes Chadwick—That must be him.
