• The stuffed tiger that Aspyn had given him sat on the little table looking at the bed. She swallowed the lump in her throat and whispered, “Aspyn would be so disappointed in her gift not doing its job.”
• Noah’s arm around her relaxed and he rolled his head to look at it. “Pretty big job for a small piece of stuffing.” His voice cracked as he spoke. He wasn’t nearly as settled as she had thought.
