- For a moment, I just looked at her, silently watching as she chewed on her lower lip, eyes flickering with uncertainty. She was waiting for an answer, for me to either confirm or deny whether our marriage would ever be consummated. I should have told her no. I should have made it clear that this was nothing more than a business transaction, that our arrangement was about convenience, not desire. But I didn’t.
