  • Michael Jones had never once wished harm upon his own brother, Kane. He could not accept it. Not fully. The thought gnawed at him like a wolf trapped in a snare: his own actions had sent Kane to the depths of the Angel Reform Academy, a place as merciless as any Emberwood Pack prison, and now his brother was dead.
  • During his convalescence in the hospital, Michael’s mind spun in endless loops of denial and confusion. Visitors’ words blurred past him; he heard none of it clearly. Katy, his cousin, noticed immediately.
