Chapter 46
- Celeste’s POV
- When I was locked inside the Angel Reformatory, I never once allowed myself the luxury of wondering about the future. Most days I wasn’t even sure I’d live through the night, let alone see another moonrise. Surviving became my only purpose.
- Now that I was free—if this suffocating return to the Frost estate could be called freedom—I didn’t dare dream about destiny. I worked in back kitchens, sweat-soaked and anonymous, scrambling to earn enough to keep myself afloat. There was no place for ideals anymore.
