- Serena’s expression twisted for just a moment, a crack in her carefully painted mask. Then she stepped forward, tugging on Ryan’s hand like a delicate little sister clinging to her protector.
- “Ryan, since my sister already apologized, let’s forgive her, shall we?” she pleaded softly. “She apologized so quickly, as if she was afraid we might change our minds. That must mean she’s truly sincere.”
