Chapter 8 48 Hours Of Doom

• I was enjoying the air conditioner in my new office while watching the newest season of Prison Break when my attention was caught by the knock at the door. I quickly changed the window display on my laptop and turned back to the door.
• “Please come in!” I said nervously, and sat upright. I had gotten bored from staying alone and doing nothing, so I decided to have some movie time.
• The lady pushed the door open and walked in; I immediately recognized her, I had been introduced to her earlier today, she was the Personal Secretary to the CEO; also the reason why I have less work here today in the office, but it didn’t seem like she liked me that much.
• “Hi,” she muttered bluntly, almost like she had forced the word. I immediately noticed the hostility in her tone and facial expression and that confirmed my fear. This lady didn’t like me!
• “Hello,” I replied back with a smile.
• Without bothering to take a seat, she dropped a number of files on my desk. “We have a bit of a problem in the company. We have received a report about the sudden drop in the price of Diamonds in the market due to a list of contributing factors. All the information about the Diamond market is illustrated with charts and Graphs in these files.”
• “Oh, that is unfortunate.” I muttered, not sure if that was the right thing to say.
• “Yeah… very unfortunate. Speaking of unfortunate, Mr. Blackwood wants you to tackle this issue all on your own, he has requested that you study the problem and with your knowledge in the field of Business Administration, you find a lasting solution to the problem.”
• “What?’ I gasped.
• “My exact reaction. Just so you know, I also disapproved of his idea to leave it all for you but I want to believe that he has valid reasons for doing that. I love this company as much as I love my job, so please ensure that I still have a job when this is all over.” She blurted and then turned to walk away.
• “Wait!” I called out. “What am I supposed to do?”
• She turned back and scoffed. “You are the one who has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, not me. You should think of something, take your time, which is just forty-eight hours by the way.” She huffed again before walking away
• Okay! What just happened? That was rude! What is that woman’s beef with me anyway?
• I was totally confused. I have not even been here for twenty-four hours and I am already being put through a test. She said I had 48 hours but I didn’t bother to ask what happens after that 48 hours, if I am not able to provide a solution to the problem.
• But I was not eager to find out either. If Maxwell wanted to test me, then I say bring it on. Good thing I wasn’t just a paper graduate in the department of Business Administration, I was the real deal and I have waited for years to prove it!

• As Megan walked away from the new PA’s office, which wasn’t too far from hers anyway, she took a deep breath and wondered if she had been too rude. She knew her behavior was wrong but she couldn’t just help but hate the new girl. What did Anna have that she doesn’t have? She might not have a Bachelor’s degree but she does have an Associate Degree in Business Administration and four years of experience in the field.
• “Stupid pretty face, goody two shoes… I hate her!” Megan cursed outwards as she walked down the empty hallway. Good thing there were no CCTVs on this floor, due to the CEO’s office on the block. It was no secret that Maxwell Blackwood did a lot of nasty things on this floor, so he very well needed his privacy. This part of the company was restricted to a few people.
• Back to Anna, what does Megan have against her? Well, it is nothing personal. Megan has been working so hard in order to occupy the position of Personal assistant, it was not just about the pay, it was the advantages that come with that position. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her Boss but that was only possible in the absence of his personal Assistant.
• It is obvious Mr. Blackwood reserved that position for pretty ladies as he usually gets involved in a sexual work relationship with them. Megan didn’t mind that, but it was not her priority, that would only be a bonus if she accomplished her goal.
• Why did Mr. Blackwood choose Annabel over her? Was she not pretty enough to be his personal assistant? Why does he even need a personal assistant when he has her? Was she not doing a good enough job?
• Megan knew it was not about her efficiency. She was a very hardworking lady and she didn’t need the boss' verification for that. She has been with this company for two long years and in those two years as his personal assistant, she had failed to win either his affection or the position of personal assistant. Even when there was no one better to take the position, he still sidelined her.
• She had been a better asset to this company than all of his previous assistants. As they were all sexually afflicted with him, they all tend to care more about his feelings than their actual job. That brings to mind the CEO’s last PA.
• Her name was Linda Jules and she was a psycho. Megan recalled how Linda had been very terrible at the job but she had only been hired because she was sexually appealing to Mr. Blackwood. As if being terrible at the job wasn’t enough, Linda had begun to obsess over her feelings for Mr. Blackwood. While he only saw her as a sexual slash work partner, she thought of him as a lover.
• Linda was so desperate to be loved back by the CEO that she lost all focus on the office that she occupied, once again leaving all the job to Megan. Her desperation to win over Maxwell’s stone heart had cost her job. Mr. Blackwood even went ahead to get a restriction order against her when he couldn’t deal with her obsession anymore.
• With her time here in this company and the things she had seen, Megan knew that the criteria to become the CEO’s PA was to be sexually appealing to him and to be willing to submit her body to him. Linda in one of her extra days had revealed it all to the PS and so when the chance presented itself, Megan began to work hard to get to that position. She was tired of being under these PA’s who didn’t know their job and she wanted the position for herself.
• In the past few months, she had not only worked extra hard to win the Boss’s respect but she also began to dress seductively to win his admiration. If only he could desire her enough to make her his PA, she didn’t want his love or affection, she just wanted that position for herself.
• But right now, all those dreams have been destroyed by the presence of Annabel. Megan knew that she just had to wait till the new PA fell out with the boss like the others before her, and then she might just get lucky this time!
