Chapter 11 Snitch

  • An Xiaoxiao understood what Zhan Mingmei was hinting at and her heart started to thump in anger.
  • Sneering, she said, “Aunt, do you really think that your brother stood up for me because I seduced him?”
  • That was exactly what Zhan Mingmei had thought.
  • Zhan Lengrui had always been stand-offish. He did not even concern himself with her and she was his sister! So firing the headmaster just because An Xiaoxiao was about to be expelled from school was not something he would do.
  • But he had done it.
  • Zhan Mingmei was sure there was something fishy going on.
  • The despicable little brat must have done something to him behind my back!
  • She had to admit that An Xiaoxiao was quite pretty. Pity that she was so much like that damn mother of hers, so adept at seducing men.
  • But still, Zhan Mingmei was unwilling to believe that Zhan Lengrui would be taken in by this little vixen.
  • She was there today to find out the truth.
  • “Xiaoxiao, let me be perfectly clear to you. In this house, we don't allow any 'dirty' business. I suggest you keep your feminine wiles to yourself as I don't feel comfortable with it.”
  • “I-”
  • “Shameless brat! Lengrui is technically your uncle so how could you do such a thing? If I see you flirting with him, I'll beat you to death!” her father reprimanded her.
  • An Xiaoxiao was so angry that she was trembling.
  • This was supposed to be her very own father yet not only had he not stood up for her, he apparently thought so lowly of her that he had to insult her.
  • But what else could she do but rage in impotent fury?
  • He was her father so she could not exactly beat him up or curse him six ways from Sunday.
  • Helplessness surged through An Xiaoxiao.
  • Taking in a deep breath, she spoke her next words carefully, “I'll only say this once: I did not seduce uncle.”
  • Zhan Mingmei laughed condescendingly. “Xiaoxiao, are you saying that Lengrui treats you like a niece so when you were expelled for skipping classes and fighting, he had to protect you?”
  • An Xiaoxiao met Zhan Mingmei's gaze unwaveringly. Her voice turned cold, “Let me repeat myself one last time: I did not seduce uncle. Whether you believe me or not, I don't care.”
  • Immediately, An Xiaoxiao headed upstairs.
  • From behind her came the annoyed voice of Zhan Mingmei, “Look at how badly-behaved she's become; she can't even take a little criticism. How dare she speak to her elders like this. What terrible manners!”
  • In an attempt to pacify her, An Qingshan gently spoke, “Mingmei, don't be mad. You know how she is. I'll give her a harsh beating later on your behalf.”
  • Zhan Mingmei snorted, “What I would love more than anything would be if I didn't have to see her swanning around all the time. Perhaps it's time to marry her off to someone, preferably someone rich so a good life will be assured.”
  • An Qingshan's expression brightened. “Oh yeah, why didn't I think of that? I should hurry up and marry the damn brat off.”
  • An Xiaoxiao stepped into her room and shut the door. Without warning, tears streamed down her face.
  • She truly, desperately wanted to leave this place but the cold, hard truth was, she was stuck and there was no hope for her.
  • “Mummy, please tell me what I should do?”
  • An Xiaoxiao cried in the safety of her room, feeling both angry and frustrated at her situation.
  • She really did not want to suspect Zhan Lengrui, but who else but him knew about what had happened today at school.
