Chapter 7 Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜

  • Xander left the room after I made it clear that I wouldn't be answering his question.
  • I fell back on my side of the bed, trying to sleep but I made no progress. How gracious of the new Alpha to gift me a sleepless night on my first night at the Pack House.
  • Little cunt.
  • Nettle rushed up to me with apologies immediately she saw me this morning. Apparently, she couldn't have done anything.
  • She also brought to my notice that Xander had ordered her to quit spending the night at the Pack House, henceforth.
  • According to her, she usually used to stay over because she didn't have much of a life outside of the Pack House. Plus, most of the time, the pups parents don't come to get their pups, so she has to look after them throughout the night.
  • It doesn't take a Magickster to know that Xander was the reason why none of the pups were left in the nursery over the night.
  • "Beta Wade is approaching with his son," Nettle announces the arrival of the first werewolf to make a drop.
  • Wade's family, the Fosters, are definitely one of those werewolf families that I would punish heavily โ€” expulsion or Omega demotion โ€” once I get back from Xander what his family stole from mine.
  • They and the Mimas, alongside some other position-hungry families, had planned it all and they executed their plans hand-in-hand.
  • To think that Xander put me in charge of the spawns from mentioned families โ€” he really does see me as harmless.
  • Good.
  • It was, probably still is, rumored that the Mimas and Fosters had a heated dispute on who was to do the honours of decapitating my mother.
  • They, Wayne Foster and Reef Mimas, both knew that the wolf to land the strike would automatically become Alpha, and both of them wanted the position.
  • It all ended with Reef becoming the Alpha and promising the Fosters a generations long position as the Betas. But those two fuckers are dead now, Wayne before Reef, and I'm left with their sons.
  • "Here," Wade smiles as he hands his son over to Nettle. "Be a good boy, okay?"
  • The little kid smiles up at him, giggling as his father grabs two fingers full of his soft, chubby cheek and pinches the skin lightly.
  • Wade must have sensed my glares. His eyes dart quickly around the room until they find mine.
  • His jolly expressions melt away and his face becomes clouded with... Fear? I'm not sure, but he definitely isn't happy with seeing me.
  • I do not remember much from my childhood. Finding those fond memories to be unimportant, and pushing them to the back of my mind worked magic for me, because, all of it is just hazy and blurry now.
  • But after Xander mentioned it yesterday, I can't help but note that Wade and I were once buddies who used to play around on that 'field' that Xander mentioned last night.
  • Seeing Wade โ€” although not my first time in the recent past โ€” triggered some memories. Just like the familiarity of this place is triggering those such memories.
  • But in all these memories, there is always this one other constant that remains too foggy to my senses.
  • Probably, meeting them will help recover some old memories. It might also answer the question of why this particular person, that I do not know, is stuck in my head.
  • He breaks eye contact and smiles down at Nettle. Then he whispers in her ear.
  • After he leaves, Nettle goes to put the kid down and I watch as he plays roughly with the toys.
  • Dear lord, please forgive me for my sins, because I'm actually thinking of strangling that little 'bundle of joy' right now, especially after seeing the love that Wade has for him.
  • A little pain, for my pains. Not bad, huh?
  • "Hey!" Nettle's voice jerks me back to reality. "What's wrong?"
  • I smile at her the best I can. "Nothing."
  • Gingerly, I get up from my seat and walk over to where the little boy is playing.
  • I sit next to him and start stroking his hair gently while I imagine the voice of Wade when he screams and thrashes under my claws.
  • I want it. I want it. I want it now!
  • "Filthy!" an unfamiliar voice said from behind me.
  • Slowly turning to see who it was, I am greeted by the eyesore that Gia Mimas calls a face.
  • "This is outrageous," she spat again. "You will not stay here, I forbid it!"
  • Sighing, I sit on the floor and watch as she goes off; very much like her son.
  • "I heard the rumors and I didn't believe it till now," she gives me a quick one over, snarling.
  • "Are you done?" I ask after a full minute of peaceful silence.
  • Gia's eyes go wide open in surprise. "How dare you use that tone with me? You dirty offspring of a kin killer."
  • That last part did it for me. Or, it did it for her; if that was what she was looking for. I spring up to my feet with full force, my eyes already a dark pit of nothingness.
  • Gia shines her glowing blue eyes at me in response.
  • The stay in this place will definitely force me to reveal myself way before I planned to.
  • "Well, you are one to talk," my voice hardly makes sense to me as it struggles to make its way through the anger that engulfed me.
  • "Guards!" I hear Nettle's voice in the distance. "Guards!"
  • "So, now you want to challenge the Luna?" she ask with a taunting voice.
  • I smirk at her, my senses calming down.
  • "Last I checked," I begin. "You were Reef's Luna, quick check, he's dead."
  • I move closer to her, stepping into her space.
  • "You are no longer the Luna of this Pack, Gia, and that's giving if you ever were a true Luna by the side of the 'Usurper Alpha'."
  • "Grrr..."
  • Gia raises her claws to attack me. I was equally ready to prevent the attack, and maybe strike back, but, before her hand landed on me, it is caught mid-air.
  • "What the hell are you doing?" Xander growls at her, his red eyes lighting his face and accentuating his death glare.
  • Fuck! I hate seeing him donning that set.
  • "How dare you Xander!?" Gia shouts at her son. "How dare you bring that lowlife into this place? You sully thisโ€”"
  • "I would like to inform you that this 'place' that you treasure so much once belonged to this same 'lowlife'," he rolls his eyes, clearly exhausted by his mother.
  • Gia moves closer to him, trying to cup his face, but he moves his head every single time to prevent it. "You can't keep her this close."
  • Yes. Listen to your mother, Xander.
  • "You don't know what she mightโ€”"
  • "I'm fine," Xander cuts into whatever wise admonition his mother was aiming at passing through his thick skull. "I'm the Alpha," he says and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "I can handle a little girl."
  • That makes me smile inwardly.
  • "She's to be my Luna," he adds, gaining a gasp from Gia, and a dull look from me. "You should treat her well," he smirks at his mom.
  • Gia shakes her head, not trusting her voice, she seems to be too shocked to form words.
  • After a few more seconds of silence, she storms out of the room.
  • Xander takes one last look at me before he follows his mother's hot trail out of the nursery.
  • If I wasn't annoyed with the Mimas before, Gia just ensured my loathing.
  • They didn't just betray my family, they are actually feeling like they are in the right. How crazy are these people?
  • Since they do not know it, I'd show them just how wrong their actions were; still are. I will show them how it feels like to be on the wrong side, staying true to their understanding of the phrase, of course.
  • However, whatever I want to do, I have to do it now. I have to do it while Xander is still blindly in love with me and deaf to reasoning.
  • Xander bringing me to the Pack House was him signing his death note, and I need to give him that death as soon as possible โ€” while I still can.
