Chapter 7 Heartache

  • Octavia POV
  • I kept smiling foolishly, as the image of the weird guy back in the woods, kept replaying in my head. I just wished to see him again. His smiles, his grey eyes, his dimples, his perfect lips, just the image of it, makes me giggle foolishly.
  • Sitting up on my mat, I stretched my hands above my head, as I yawned tiredly, before standing on my feet. Dragging my feet out of my room, I went to knock on my parent's door, but got no response. I didn't need anyone to tell me they must've gone out to do their hard labor as usual.
  • This is how they've always lived, they are always made to go through hard labors out there, for no reason, they're always punished by the said superiors, they always go out and come back home, all tired, with bruises all over their bodies. Too bad, I can't even go out there to see what is always happening to them.
  • Turning around, I walked back to my room, and stripped out of my clothes, before tying a cloth round my chest, after which I got a bucket of water, before going to our small garden. I peeked out of the house, to be sure nobody was watching, before I finally got to the garden, and had a quick bath. I walked back in, and got dressed, before going to pick one of my favorite werewolf book, which mother Lia gave me, before going to sit on my mat again, as I started reading it.
  • I'm so hungry, but there's nothing I can eat, I have to wait for my parents to get back, before I can eat anything, that's how I've always lived my life...
  • Astrid POV
  • I watched the laborers absentmindedly, as they worked tirelessly. My mind was far away, it kept wandering into thoughts, as the seer's words kept ringing in my head, giving me a sharp pains in the chest, I just pray it's not true.
  • FLASHBACK
  • Moment Ago
  • I walked into the dark cave, and looked around the place, before walking in farther, not minding the darkness, that kept enveloping me in its deepest feature. The cave was as silent as a grave yard, and anyone would be scared, being there. It's a dangerous place to go, only Alpha Khalid, have the courage to go in there, but I don't care about my life anymore at this point, if it is to be with Khalid, I can put my life on the line.
  • "What do you seek?" An old feminine voice, filled the entire cave, and I froze on my spot. The voice scared me, I've heard alpha Khalid's demonic voice a couple of times, and it never scared me like this one did, this voice, is the most dangerous one I've ever heard, and the strong wave of fear it erupted in me, was something that have never happened in history. Now I understand why no one dare to come here.
  • "I...I..." I stuttered, with my trembling body, as I gulped down nothing like a million times. I suddenly felt my voice struck in my throat, I didn't have the courage to talk, the aura coming from the mysterious seer, is strong and intimidating, the aura was a killing one. I felt my feet wobbling on the floor, my heart came thumping heavily against my chest, like it wanted to force itself out of its cage. I fell on my knees, as my legs couldn't carry me anymore, but I wasn't ready to give up, the thought of going to lose Khalid to someone else, hit me, and I felt my powers coming back. With all the power left in me, I stood up on my feet.
  • "You really are a brave woman. You just passed the test. What do you seek?" Came the voice again, but this time, less scaring than earlier.
  • "Who...who..."
  • "Do you seek, to know the alpha's mate?" She cut me off. I gasped in surprise, wondering how she knew about it. Is she by chance a witch or something?
  • "Ho...how did you know that?" I asked foolishly out of curiosity, forgetting the fact that she's a seer, who can see what will happen in future, so this wouldn't be a big deal for her.
  • "I see blood around you...I see your emotions, being the end of you..." Her voice echoed. For heaven sake, I asked for something else, and not the other way round.
  • "His mate, is a hidden a treasure, a hidden havoc, and a hidden calamity. Her identity, is not known by anyone, not even she, knows why she's hidden." She added, confusing me the more. She should just tell me what I want to know, and stop speaking in parables, for heaven sake. I'm dying of curiosity already.
  • "Khalid, is destined to kill you..." She released the bombshell.
  • My eyes widened in shock, as I staggered back, trying to digest what she just said. My whole world came crumbling down right in front of me, the only man I've ever grown to love, the only man I rejected my mate for, the only man that makes me happy, is my destined killer? That's not possible, there must be a mistake somewhere, she must be joking around with me, no way!
  • Turning around with my heavy legs, I dragged them out of the cave, as her words echoed in my head, pools of tears came rolling down my cheeks. I regretted visiting the cave in the first place, it wasn't the news of the death that hurts, but the thought of it, coming from the only man I've ever loved, broke my heart into pieces, as I felt my life turning into a nightmare, before my very eyes.
  • I wish I hadn't find out about it, I wish I hadn't come here. Do you know the pains of knowing that you're going to die? And not just that, but going to die by the hands of the one you love? I doubt if you know the pains. The pains is more than being stabbed in the heart with a sword.
  • Staggering out of the cave, I collapsed on my knees, and sighed my fingers painfully on the soil, as I cried my eyes out...
  • End Of Flashback...
  • I was jolted out of my trance, as a mud water, splashed on my clothes. Snapping my head to the direction where the water came from, my eyes darkened at who I saw, as I felt my anger triggered...
