Chapter 10 Our Relationship As Husband and Wife Still Need Some Work

  • After she got back and opened the door, she saw the two little ones sitting on the sofa as soon as she stepped inside. One of them were already asleep and mumbling in her sleep, and the other glared sternly at Jiang Mucheng.
  • "You're finally back. Erer instantly fell asleep two minutes after Auntie left. I couldn't carry her and my thighs are numb."
  • Jiang Yiyi complained about Jiang Erer's wrongs with a serious yet incredibly spoiled-looking face.
  • Jiang Mucheng completely ignored what Jiang Yiyi said, walked up to the little girl and picked her up. She put her in her room, then spun around and spoke to Jiang Yiyi. "Now, you should get ready for bed too."
  • "Mama. You look really tired," said Yiyi after they watched her do all that.
  • Jiang Mucheng rubbed her temples, then smiled. "Is there any way I can't be tired after working till eleven? Hurry, get back to your room and sleep. Staying up also makes people tired."
  • "That's not it, Mama. You never used to look so tired even when you worked all night long. Did something happen?"
  • Even though Jiang Yiyi was just three years old, Jiang Mucheng often felt like she was speaking to an adult when they had their chats. Jiang Yiyi's reminder actually helped Jiang Mucheng to remember the text on her phone.
  • "Mama might have to deal with some personal matters for a while. You have to take care of your little sister," she told Jiang Yiyi in a serious voice.
  • Jiang Yiyi nodded, then continued to look up with his big, cute eyes and a serious look on his face. "Does your personal thing have to do with dad?"
  • Jiang Mucheng was suddenly stunned, but nodded her head.
  • She never kept anything about Huo Ciyi from Jiang Yiyi.
  • Because this child naturally inherited Huo Ciyi's high IQ, he proved to be different from ordinary children ever since he was small. There were some things that he could understand.
  • Even if he didn't understand, he wouldn't force her to explain.
  • Jiang Erer didn't know about Huo Ciyi. She took after Jiang Mucheng, and was simply an ordinary, clever, and obedient little girl. Right now, she didn't know anything.
  • Jiang Mucheng lied to her by saying that her father was picking stars out in space, and would be back in a few years' time.
  • After speaking with Jiang Yyi, Jiang Mucheng put Jiang Yiyi to sleep. Then, she sent Auntie a text to ask her to take the kids early tomorrow morning and explained why.
  • But what Jiang Mucheng didn't know was that by "tomorrow morning", Huo Ciyi meant the early hours tomorrow.
  • Which meant... the second after twelve in the morning.
  • Jiang Mucheng just finished taking a shower when she got Huo Ciyi's call. Over the phone he used a demanding tone of voice to ask her why she hadn't turned up at the house on Jiangchun Road yet!
  • Jiang Mucheng looked at the time on her phone, and wanted to curse Huo Ciyi out for being crazy!
  • But she kept her cool for three seconds, then calmly spoke on the phone. "Mr. Huo, do you know that it's still dark outside right now?"
  • "I know," said Huo Ciyi on the other side of the phone in a deep, calm voice.
  • "Do you know that it's midnight right now?"
  • Over the phone, Huo Ciyi remained vigilant and calm. "I know," he flatly replied with just two words.
  • "If you know... Then since you know this, you should let me get some sleep right now. I'm sure that your parent's plane won't be landing at midnight, right?"
  • "Ten in the morning."
  • Huo Ciyi continued to reply calmly, as if that question had nothing to do with him.
  • Jiang Mucheng wanted to blow up at him a little. What's with this guy knowing everything?
  • "I believe I made myself very clear. I'm going to sleep now. See you tomorrow morning."
  • "I'm sure that after not seeing each other for three years, our relationship as husband and wife will need some work."
