CHAPTER 8 You are thinking yourself too highly

  • Jack held a cold face. Blue veins stood out on his forehead, like telling how angry he was.
  • Stephanie didn't compromise. Her eyes were filled with dissatisfaction and unyieldingness and staring right into Jack's pupils.
  • Liz was standing by them and crying hard. She threw a quick peek while she was wiping tears. Seeing that it all went like she expected, she snickered and cried even harder.
  • The cry sounded very satiric in Stephanie. Meanwhile, she saw Jack frowned. The next second she got caught by the wrist.
  • Sudden pain made her gasp. She bit her lips and tried to pull her hands out. 'Let go of my hands!" She ordered.
  • 'Stephanie, you are thinking too highly of yourself. Do you really think you mean something to me?" jack rebuked. He didn't take her words seriously. His rage was burning in his chest and Stephanie's the only vent he could find.
  • 'If you want to blame me you can always find an excuse." Stephanie said contemptuously. She hated people to speak to her such a way, even the man she loved.
  • Listening to only one side of the story and accusing her of something she never did. She wouldn't allow herself to sit by and do nothing.
  • After she finished, she turned her head away. Her sight fell on Liz, filled with detest.
  • Liz frowned and wiped her tears. She walked over to Jack and tried to persuade him. 'Jack, I believe Stephanie didn't mean to do all these. Don't blame her. After all, I am fine, isn't it?" She sobbed while she spoke, looking pathetic.
  • Liz's mediation clearly eased Jack. Nevertheless, he didn't loosen his grip on Stephanie. Nobody knew what he was thinking.
  • When a man beats you for another woman, will you choose to leave him or stay?
  • Stephanie had no reason to stay. Thinking that the baby would be born under such detestable environment, she became more determined on the abortion. This was not impulsive but decided after consideration.
  • Quite a while elapsed in silence. Jack let go of her hands and left with Liz, leaving Stephanie alone in the room.
  • She felt a deep chill spread in her body, eroding her heart.
  • This thing ended like this, but Stephanie got very sick afterwards.
  • Shawn Keller heard about this and got worried, so he came to visit with some med.
  • He trod lightly to Stephanie's room. Nonetheless, the alert Stephanie soon noticed him.
  • Shawn dropped the things on the table and asked, 'You alright, Steph?"
  • Stephanie looked at Shawn without any expression, which concerned him a lot.
  • Suddenly, she started to speak.
  • 'Shawn, get me some aborticide, would you?"
  • Shawn wanted to say something, but was interrupted. 'I feel tired. I don't want this kid. Please." She added in a soft voice.
  • That 'please", which sent Shawn's mind a quiver, was nearly begging. 'Fine." He eventually relaxed and agreed her request.
  • Liz who saw all these started to conceive another plan.
  • She called Jack on phone, speaking in a weird and implicit way.
  • Though Liz didn't say anything clear, Jack realized that Shawn was with Stephanie now, dating in her room.
  • In anger and shame, Jack left his company and rushed home.
  • Liz hanged up, expecting what was going to happen. When she felt that Jack was about to arrive, she headed to his house with an innocent face.
  • Jack arrived and dashed to Stephanie's room angrily. He opened the door and the noise attracted Shawn and Stephanie.
  • Witnessing the spot, Jack didn't think much before he fought Shawn.
  • Shawn was wronged, but he didn't fight back. Yet, beating Shawn wasn't enough for Jack. He slapped Stephanie's face after he saw her in rage.
  • 'Stephanie, is this how you treat your husband? How could I marry a woman like you!"
  • Liz saw all these when she arrived and was greatly pleased.
